German Car Forum members, I am an automotive enthusiast from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. My wife and I are on our 3rd Cayenne and this one happens to be a 2014 Porsche Cayenne Turbo 958 series triple black with 75,000kms. I am slowly chipping away at modifications to this SUV (though there is nothing wrong with it in stock trim). Vibrant Performance stepped up as a sponsor on the mufflers (1118 Street Power 2.5"). We also had a set of Flopro stainless steel tips installed. The stock Cayenne Turbo 958 series has a nice bellow at cold startup and then goes near Lexus quiet once warmed up. The engine and vehicle is literally begging for the exhaust to be opened up somewhat. Step one for us was to remove the stock suitcase style muffler weighing 47lbs and installing these Vibrant 1118 mufflers (7.4lbs each). Weight saving was over 30lbs changing this out. Stock exhaust decibels at cold startup is between 77-80dbs....with the stock muffler removed and Vibrants installed the dbs are in the 80-84db range. Given how insulated this SUV is the sound volume only goes from a 4/10 to maybe 5/10. At partial throttle when driving there is more V8 noise....at full throttle you hear air whistling with V8 noise...more than stock but still muted inside. My next step is to remove the redundant secondary 700 cell catalytic converters which will raise exhaust tone but free up the exhaust to move more freely and help the turbos to spool quicker. I'll attach pics and vids for you all as I finish this build. In current stage the startup is AMG/SRT like with a hint of turbo rasp/wisp. Once I have the exhaust where I want it, we'll tune the vehicle and will see where we go from there.
