I am curious about 1,6 tdi engine.

After taxes gone crazy this year 1,6 tdi passat is about 80000 TL - 2,0 tdi passat is 160000 TL. It is exactly double of it.

VW hear us and produce 1,6 tdi with 2,0 tdi performance.

It seems as if Volkswagen just can't wait to show us the eighth generation of its European Passat, which will be offered in many markets around the globe, but not in North America where it will continue to sell the locally made model.
Draped in a silky robe, the 2015 Passat doesn't reveal much about itself in this latest picture other than the outline of its available all-LED headlights, which is just one of the many new features that will be introduced on VW's Ford Mondeo and Skoda Octavia competitor.

We're expecting to see the first photos of the new Passat in July, before the car's world debut at theParis Motor Show in October.

VW's new mid-size model will include both sedan and estate variants based on the group's Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform that helps reduce weight by as much as 85kg (187 pounds) over the current Passat.

Other notable highlights include the 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster that will also display data from the new infotainment system (just like the new Audi TT), a new 2.0-liter TDI diesel rated at 240PS (237hp) and a 211PS (208hp) plug-in hybrid variant comprising a 1.4-liter TSI petrol and an electric motor.

2015 Volkswagen Pssat technical details

Will have a 280 PS 2.0 TSI engine
Extensive details about the 2015 Volkswagen Passat have emerged through a leaked presentation, prior to next month's confirmed official introduction.

First up, the diesel engine lineup will include a 1.6-liter TDI with 120 PS (88 kW) along with three 2.0-liter TDIs delivering 150 PS (110 kW), 190 PS (140 kW) and 240 PS (176 kW).

On the gasoline side, we find two 1.4 TSIs with 125 PS (92 kW) and 150 PS (110 kW), with the latter featuring Active Cylinder Technology (ACT). There's also a 1.8 TSI with 180 PS (132 kW) and two 2.0-liter TSIs with 220 PS (162 kW) and 280 PS (206 kW).

All these engines meet Euro 6 emissions standards and Volkswagen is also planning a plug-in hybrid version with an electric motor and a 9.9 kWh battery pack granting a maximum electric range of around 31 miles (50 km) and a combined range of 600 miles (966 km). On this version, the charging socket will be positioned in the badge on the front grille.

The all-new Passat is going to be 4767mm long and will be up to 85 kg (188 lbs) lighter than its predecessor. It will come as standard with full LED taillights and will be optionally available with LED headlights with a Dynamic Light Assist system. Inside the cabin it will boast Audi TT's 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a resolution of 1440 x 540 pixels and will be offered with a head-up display system and park assist. There's also a 360-degree camera and a trailer assistant system.

Many of these details were already announced by Volkswagen at the end of May when they said the 2015 Passat is going to pack a variety of safety and assistance systems such as City Emergency Braking, Traffic Jam Assist, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist and others.

The 2015 Volkswagen Passat will be unveiled online next month and it's set to go on sale before the end of the year, following a public debut in October at the Paris Motor Show.

Ahead of an official unveiling scheduled next month, the technical presentation of the 2015 VW Passat was leaked in China. Here is a summary of the details -

Dynamic Light Assist Technology with LED headlights: The new Passat will preview VW’s Dynamic Lighting Technology with integrated static and bending lights. This apart, the top-end variant of the car will get full LED headlights.

LED taillights: The 2015 Passat will come with full LED taillights as standard.

Instrument cluster: VW have given the traditional cluster a miss, and have instead used a new 12.3-inch instrument cluster with a resolution of 1440 x 540 pixels. The display doubles up for navigation and seems inspired by the new Audi TT’s cluster.

Weight savings: According to the presentation, VW have achieved total weight savings of 85 kg in the new Passat thanks to the use of high-strength, hot-formed steel and aluminium in certain areas.

Length: The new Passat will measure 4,767 mm in length, as compared to the current model which measures 4,769 mm.

Engines: All engines conform to EU6 norms. The smallest engine will be a 1.6-liter TDI producing 118 hp, and the top-end diesel will make use of a 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo unit producing 240 PS and 500 Nm of torque. Petrol engines will range from a 1.4-liter TSI to a 2.0-liter TSI.

Plug-In Hybrid: Confirming earlier claims, the new Passat will get a plug-in hybrid variant with a 9.9 kWh battery pack providing a pure electric driving range of 50 km. The charging socket will be located in the VW badge in the grille of the car.

Entertainment system: The entertainment system will get a MirrorLink feature for smartphones wherein the car’s system acts as a screen to the phone.

HUD: The new Passat will get a head-up display system.

Park Assistant: The 2015 Passat gets VWs Park Assistant 3.0 system which has an option wherein the driver can manually select a parking spot for the car. On the current system, the car has to detect a parking spot on its own.

Camera: A 360 degree panoramic camera will be offered on the car.

Trailer assistant system: Using this system, the driver of the new Passat can accurately judge the turning radius of the attached trailer.

Traffic Assistant Systems: A rear traffic warning system with a side assistance system and blind spot detection will be seen on the new Passat. It will also add the city braking feature and lane keeping assistant to the car. If the driver of the Passat strays from his lane, the system will first warn the driver will an alarm and a flashing logo. If the driver doesn’t react to this, a haptic feedback on the brake pedal will try to get the driver’s attention.

The system will finally resort to tightening the seat belts, engaging cruise control and gently bringing the car to a stop should the driver fail to react.

The new Passat will be announced next month with European sales likely to begin by the end of this year. VW India have confirmed that the new generation will launch when the time is appropriate.

^Brilliant! Best choice no doubt. Can't wait.
The Passat is one of my favorite cars. It's my dirty little secret.

Yes it has a successful formula at succeeding at what it does best but it is not the drop your jaw - dynamic choice. Its fair to say it is the German "Camry" competent , but dull and visually unappealing. And it comes in Beige.

Conservative design appeals to me much more than flamboyant.
German cars used to look more conservative and some still do which is why I prefer them.
There's also the CC which is a great looking and stylish car.
The Passat is always there to make you wonder why you should pay a premium when you can get so much for less.

I'd rather have a "dull and visually unappealing" Passat over an all looks, but no substance Insignia any day.

My company has an Insignia. I drove it only once on a 4.000km. journey and it made me regret every mile of it. First car to achieve that...
The steering feels like an Xbox joystick. Passat all the way. Nothing can beat it this side of the Big3.

Never mind the steering feel, the worst thing about the Insignia in my opinion is the driving comfort or the lack of it to be precise.

I "lived" with a 13-reg Insignia SRI CDTI 160 for week and I hated it every single mile in it. The leather seats were very hard and would give me backache after one hour driving it, the visibility was so appalling that lane departure warning should be standard given the amount of blind spots, but the worst thing was the brightness of the sat nav screen that blinded me at night. Oh and by the way, be careful with the hatchback tailgate. It's got really sharp edges that can give you a really nasty cut on your head.

Plus points? Powerful engine and good looks. Other than these pluses, just about average or downright piss poor at everything else.

Completely agree on everything. Engine and looks are spot on. Everything else is indeed piss poor. I'd like to add that the steering is also inaccurate and dangerous at high speeds.

Go to the french forum you kitty lover!
