Vs 2014 Merc S63 vs. Alpina B7 xDrive vs. Audi S8

Unless they give it more power I doubt it can be any quicke

Maybe I missed something but there has only been one D4 S8 and that's the one introduced last year in 2012, sure they dropped the old 4.2FSI for the much faster 4.0TFSI but this was the regular A8. I just can't see Audi doing anything to the current S8 prior to the model change in like 2016 or something.

Lets wait just more tests :)

The official D4 factory on the facelift is 4,1 seconds, while the pre-facelift was 4,2 seconds. So they did something indeed.

0.1 sec difference. Wow, makes all the long wait for a facelift worth it :D
Okay? Since when is it normal that times change at all in facelifts? This is actually unique. Especially when we talk about 4 second times to 100km/h. And what do you do? Make it a diss. Nice job mr Ford

Anything for you Miss Kermit!

On the airstrip your mother tells you to put away when you go to bed?
Klier: not quite. Prepare to eat your words.

^yeah i don't see how it could just walk away like that.. is the S63 even run in properly.. its so damn new..that it might not even be past the run in milage for full rpms..

If it is.. and that S8 is stock.. then call me extremely shocked..

Especially as that was a rolling start, and the AWD plays little role.. and i think you said the S was RWD..

Oh I would love to see @klier and @LaArtists faces now.

To me, no surprise. I knew it. Okay MB, bring on the S65 now. I still don't think it will get the S8. And thanks for the video @N883JJYou gotta understand that Klier still lives in 1980-1990, where Audi was nothing. Different times now.

It's gotta be an explanation, right? I will give you the only correct one: The S8 is faster.

Until these 2 cars are tested by professionals the jury is still out IMO. That video really doesn't show much of anything. Doesn't look like the S63 is even being driven that hard.

You are joking right? I will give you a chance to explain how on earth you can say that. Are you like some kind of super mind that can see how "hard" the car is driven, from seeing it in a street race video, when the car is filmed from outside??? Serious man. You have to understand that what you wrote was pure BS.

Street racing don't mean shit in 20 second clip. When the professional drivers get a hold of both cars then we'll know whats what. No not joking. You Audi fanatics are so desperate to prove something that you'll accept anything. I'm not even saying which way it will come out, I'm saying that clip is hardly definitive proof. You're bs.

I don't know why people are surprised that S8 is faster. It has a 8 speed transmission and is probably putting more torque to the ground than the Merc.

Test magazines aren't accurate either. These days the carmakers seem to love to put stronger cars than it really have on a piece of paper in various tests. Power of turbo and thanks to dyno tests ;)

^Yes, also, it is just straight line acceleration on cars with automatic gears, there is minimal driver skill involved especially from a rolling start. Magazine drivers are not going to automatically make it any faster.

Agreed. There isn't much skill required in planting your foot down from a rolling start and keeping the car straight. Both were in Sport mode, both had one occupant, and both were almost empty of gas. Not sure what else you can do to normalize. Also ran about 5 times using different start speeds in an attempt to let the S63 get to peak RPM before the shot but still didn't come close to S8. I am a Merc fan as well but the facts are the facts...both great cars but S8 faster in a drag race.

BTW this S63 is 4MATIC.

^ I am amazed.. you got a video of a stand still start to?

If this is the case.. MB need to get their shit together and develop a proper Gearbox..

Cause with all that power and only 5kg diff.. this should not happen, the gearbox is not only to slow..in this case its a handicap.

I agree that MB should develop a competitive gearbox, but arguing it should develop a new transmission just cause a stupidly fast luxury barge lost a drag race to another another stupidly fast luxury barge is, well rather silly.

^of course that is not the only reason why.. but it goes to tell how much power they loose to the ground.. when they make the effort to lead in output..its for no good if it all gets eaten by a slow transmission.
But yes the S class is probably the last car in the line up in real need of that new transmission.
