The Mazda MX-5 is a lightweight two-person sports car manufactured and marketed by Mazda. The convertible is marketed as the Mazda Roadster or Eunos Roadster in Japan, and as the Mazda Miata in the United States, and formerly in Canada, where it is now marketed as the MX-5 but is still commonly referred to as "Miata".

Unless I'm mistaken, you said the new MINI looks better in the flesh than in photos, I've seen the new MINI and it looks just as ugly in real life as it does in photos, the photos aren't hiding anything here. When you put the new F56 MINI beside the R50 you can see what a mess BMW have made of the MINI, the R50 is a classic, it's proportions are bang on, it just works.

The new Mini is looking too big (no longer a mini but a maxi) the bonnet and windscreen is way higher than the first version and even much higher than the first of the new generation models. The front lights and grill look totally different and have no resemblance and greenhouse is looking too slim compared to original version. The backlights now are also way too big. It's becoming less and less attractive now, certainly not on my shopping list if I was going to buy a small car

They've done an awesome job with it. Gone away from cuteness and given it a scalpel's precision. Don't like the blacked out windshield frame. Think it's a poor choice, but will see how it looks with the palette available. Apart from gen 1, the best ever, and it gives that a fair run for the money. It's pure Miata, no longer beholden to its influences. Looking forward to seeing them about.

I really like this car alot, it looks more bold and dynamic in its looks than previous MX-5 Miata models. The car is still small and compact, it must be an absolute pleasure to drive this car, sure it will give you a nice grin behind the wheel.

The wait is finally over -- nearly six-months after its official unveiling, Mazda has announced weight specifications for its latest MX-5 Miata sports car.
Mazda promised a light-weight sports car with the 2016 MX-5 and the company certainly delivered. When equipped with a manual transmission, the Miata will tip the scales at just 2,332 pounds. Checking the MX-5's automatic gearbox option will push the car's weight to a slightly more portly 2,381 pounds.
In comparison, the lightest version of the outgoing MX-5 was about 2,480 pounds, with the heaviest models checking in just above 2,600 pounds. The 2016 MX-5 isn't quite as light as the 2,070 pound original, but it's pretty darn close considering its modern safety and luxury features.
The 2016 MX-5 is down on power compared to the previous car (155 horsepower vs 167 horsepower ), but the new model actually boasts a better power-to-weight ratio thanks to its featherlight curb weight. That should translate to a 0-60 time in the low six-second range.
The 2016 Mazda MX-5 won't hit dealer showrooms until this summer, but you can now drive the roadster virtually on Xbox One's Forza Horizon 2.

The ND will be offered exclusively with 16 and 17-inch wheels with four lugnuts. These will be wearing Yokohama Advan Sports (195/50R-16) or Bridgestone Potenza RE050A (205/45R-17) rubber. By the way,production of the fourth-gen has already begun in the Land of the Rising Sun.
In all frankness, the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata isn't underpowered, not even with the 1.5-liter that's preferred by the team of engineers. Skinny tires and 130 or 155 horsepower are enough for sideways hoonage and heel-and-toe-ing this Japanese roadster to your heart's desire.
The manufacturer says that European deliveries of the Mazda MX-5 Miata are slated to begin in July.

Mazda has announced the all-new MX-5 Miata is 25% less thirsty in manual guise than the model it replaces.
Mazda says their new MX-5 can return an EPA-estimated 27 mpg city / 34 mpg highway / 30 mpg combined with the standard six-speed SKYACTIV-MT gearbox while with the optional six-speed automatic it will do 27 mpg city / 36 mpg highway / 30 mpg combined. Compared to the model it replaces, the manual MX-5 brings a massive 25% fuel economy improvement.
This was possible by shaving off weight as the 2016MY manual tips the scales at 2,332 lbs (1,057 kg) whereas the 2015MY manual weighs 2,480 lbs (1,124 kg). Aside from going on a strict diet, the new MX-5 also comes with a more economical 2.0-liter SKYACTIV engine rated at 155 bhp (115 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque.
The US-spec 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata is programmed to go on sale in United States this summer from $24,915.

Mazda has released a new promotional video which highlights the MX-5's 50:50 weight distribution.
In the video, an employee drives the car onto a fulcrum balance structure and manages to stay perfectively level. As Miata product manager Dave Coleman explains, "Having the weight distribution 50:50 makes the car behave more predictability and more constantly. Weight is the single most important factor in developing this car - when you're trying to make a car perform well you do it with brute force with lots of power and big tires or you can go completely the opposite way and reduce the amount of work that the car has to do respond to the driver's input by making it lighter."
As a refresher, the 2016 Mazda MX-5 will arrive at U.S. dealerships this summer with a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV engine that produces 155 bhp (115 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque. It can be paired to a six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic gearbox.
