The only good thing about these no TC/LC, EBS races is Massa losing it yet again, oh and Jensen SmoothDriving Button too.
Apart from that, the usual boredom.
I've said it before, until the fundamental issues won't be resolved (extreme aerodynamic turbulence and sensitivity, poor mechanical grip) it won't be any better.
I'm hoping the 2009 rules will make it better.

• Ferrari: I have always thought they had the best car despite the aussie GP and they proved it, Kimi was flawless while Massa sucked.
• McLaren: clearly behind the ferrari in sheer race pace, Drivers overall did a good job
• BMW: Superb work Robert, Nick also did a great race but mister Trulli did a shitty job at the start, anyway we have the best race laptime and we are very close to mclaren in both race & quali pace.
• Renault: They managed to produce a car that is even shittier than the one from last year, and of course Flavio is searching for excuses and is telling us that they will make a giant jump after the Spanish gp. Concerning drivers, alonso did as usual a great job by extracting probably all the performance avialable on the car while piquet starts to finally look like an F1 driver.
• Rest: Toyota confirmed that they have a car able to fight for the 4th place with williams, williams who payed the fact that their car is very gentle with tyres wich was normaly supposed to be a big advantage in race.

aside from a possible return to slicks, what are the other rule changes for 2009?

Pretty boring race imo, but fantastic to see Ferrari on the pace and doing everything right.
Too bad for Massa though. Driver error both in Melbourne and here. He is a worker and will improve but this one was really unnecessary.
Mclaren will be back on the pace too. I think Melbourne, Montreal and those types of circuits suit the McLaren better than Sepang for example.

And a great podium as well. Kimi, Kubica and Heikki, some of my favourite drivers on the grid!

bookmark this page, and visit it again at the end of the season. just because Ferrari messed up in Aussie, ur hoping to see their engine to go 'Kaboom' in every race? Kaboom my arse.

When did I say I want their engines to fail? I'm not hoping for it, but I expect it. They have admitted that they have some reliability bugs and that they do not fully know the new ECU.

Too bad for Massa though. Driver error both in Melbourne and here. He is a worker and will improve but this one was really unnecessary.

But that is not enough for a driver to be justify his spot in a Ferrari. It looks like three mistakes in the opening two races. We'll see what the explanation for this one is. I think he has already improved from working with Schu and there is a limit to how much he can improve.

The Italian press will be calling for Massa to be replaced pretty soon. For me the frustrating thing is that I don't think Massa (when he is on form) is that much slower than Kimi. The problem is his hopeless lack of consistency in a fast car. He needs to score points even on bad weekends and he doesn't.

Great race in Malaysia. Very happy with Kubica’s 2-d place , good return of Kimi. Excellent effort from McLaren despite penalties. I wonder who sabotaged this time Massa’s car? Great race for Toyota as well.

Only managed to watch the 2nd half of the race... and it was pretty dull.

The only good thing happen was seein Massa do what he does best... suck! (or was it an ECU problem )

Any ideas what they've been saying about him? The Italian press was calling for Kimi to be tossed out on his arse and Schu to return midway through '07. That was pretty ruthless.

Well, the Italian press has a tendency to swing around at the blink of an eye also.
They called for Kimi to be tossed out plenty of times throughout 2007, but for example after Kimi won at Silverstone La Gazzetta Dello Sport praised him as better than Schumi. When Massa wins next time they'll find a way to excuse Massa's errors and praise him. That's the Italian way. Either it's really good, or really bad.

As for right now we'll probobly see some chops of Vettel in a red suit as it's a hot rumour at the moment.

If Massa puts in another two or three performances like this one, they won't keep him around to the end of his contract.

I'm surprised noone mention Heidefled's pass on both Alonso and Coulthard on lap 4... Kudos to Nick, that was nice to watch.

Great race for Robert too, once again he prooves himself.

Massa messed up big time and Kimi was good too. Kudos.

Nice race and nice to see BMW improving every race.

I wouldn't think so, Kimi isn't going anywhere and Massa is sitting tight at Ferrari until the end of 2010.

Just because Massa has a contract with Ferrari doesn't mean that they have to put him in their car. Some contracts in F1 guarantee the driver a seat, but not all. If Massa's contract doesn't have a guarantee, then they "bench" him or release him to sign with another team.

Worse case scenario for them is they have to pay him to sit around and do nothing. As an aside, if the budget cap comes in driver's salaries are exempt so they won't have to worry about paying three drivers if it comes to that.
