F1 2007 Hungarian GP

Formula 1 news, races, teams, drivers, technology, strategy, and discussion.
Without Alonso's development knowledge of the car (which in my opinion pushed Renault and McLaren to the top), the McLaren will fall behind the pack again, leaving Hamilton in a slow car. Can't win any championships with a slow car now can we. Hamilton just shot himself in the foot, lets see how good he is from the middle of the pack.

There are now three of us, Gene. IE, myself and now you are in the small minority that regard Alonso's development skill as the reason for the massive improvement by the "Team of Utmost Integrity" (TOUI).

Schu had seven-titles, but he had the best car for six of them. Senna had the best car for all three of his. Fangio, arguably still the greatest, also took the titles with the fastest cars. The list goes on. No one can consistently win titles without the fastest car.

so, Hammi did indeed get in trouble with Ron :

Lewis Hamilton says he apologised to his boss Ron Dennis after their radio swearing match in Hungary.

The pair exchanged 'f'-words following the qualifying pitstop bungle on Saturday, which ultimately cost Fernando Alonso his pole position and McLaren 15 championship points.

Dennis and Alonso revealed to the press in Budapest that the incident had been triggered by Hamilton repeatedly ignoring a radio order to let his Spanish teammate past in the 'Q3' phase of qualifying.

"I am in a lot of trouble with my boss," Hamilton told the British broadcaster ITV before he won the race, albeit reiterating that Alonso does not have "a great excuse" for holding him up in the pits.

Championship leader Hamilton revealed after the incident that Alonso had not spoken to him, while Alonso told Spanish reporters that "nobody" in the team is communicating at present with Lewis.

Hamilton confirmed that he is living in a difficult moment within the Woking based team.

"I went to my normal engineers' meeting, and you can imagine the feeling; you feel like you have done something to them," the Briton said.

"It does feel a little bit weird. Ron was obviously extremely angry with me at the time, I don't know if he still is.

true. but, i think his dad and him went thru a lot to esure he had enough money to enter races at the early part of his career. i think Ant Hamilton worked up to 3 jobs to ensure his son could participate in races.

Exactly! Financing your son's racing career isn't a joke. The money Anthony invested in Lewis made bigger hole's in their economy than the millions Mclaren & Mercedes has with ease tossed into Hamilton's development.
Input and output are proportional and Lewis is by no means a lottery kid. Lewis and his father's work and dedication paid off when Mclaren signed him.

But I can agree that he has had a slight advantage growing up and developing his driving with the assistance of a team.
Still that doesn't mean crap since he spectacular driver and has shown why he belong with a top team. Today we say Hamilton at his best. The car worked fine, the weather was good and he kept a high pace without making a single mistake. Alonso should off course be given credit for his development with a car. After all we have all seen how it bad it can go for drivers when their cars don't have the optimal settings.

Hamilton screwed up and didn't want to give the fuel-burn advantage to Alonso and refused to heed numerous calls to let Alonso by. Alonso, rightly, took this as a slap in the face and stuck around the pits to screw Hamilton. Fair play and the stewards shouldn't have gotten involved.
Instead of having the Mclarens duking it out up front we are left with a parade of a race again , with little excitment and little doubt of the outcome. This was manufactured by the stewards, and again politics off the track are taking away from the racing.

The real idiotis ofcourse RD who really showed what sort of an incompetent he is at dealing with things.

As for Hamilton and his fathers dificulties, cry me a river. Others endured similar dificulties or more and that until they got to F1 (19 to 25 years of age) not just until they were 13. And ofcourse they didn't landed with a top car and top team. The only he showed is that he's a Backstabbing Hypocrite.

The good thing I can think of is that Alonso can probably use the clause in his
contract to split paths with McLaren.

But what makes this so interesting is that I can pretty much guarantee Alonso will leave the team the very moment he can (whether it be as a result of the scandal or when his contract expires).

Gonna be a great 2008.

Witch is exactly what I want. Hamilton will get a taste of what every great multiple WDC had to endure.
Then will see.
So far he hasn't proven that he's more than just a Raikkonen.

While it's true that most had the fastest car, you can win with the second fastest. Senna in 1991, Prost in 1986.( And the Benetton and Williams of 1995 were balanced, both sharing the top notch Renault engine.)
But without Alonso McLaren won't get in such a situation again.

The good thing I can think of is that Alonso can probably use the clause in his
contract to split paths with McLaren.

A split seem to be solution or else stiff elbows will continue to swing within the Mclaren team. Ever since Alonso told a publication that he's unhappy at Mclaren I told you guys that things were going to get ugly.

Both of them aren't ugly or bad people in any way. They are both top drivers and there can simply be one alpha male in the house. Like I have said in the past they are each others biggest competitors, making in-house conflict inevitable.

Things are really not working out and I doubt that recording another commercial will solve the situation:D. Alonso is a champion who signed to Maclren to do nothing but win, and Hamilton has showed that he is not only a rookie but a winner. Neither of them will show love to the other one.

What do you guys think should be done about the family situation at Mclaren?

The father and brother difficulties/disabilities help Hamilton. They help make him complete unique, unlike the other 20-some lads who drive in F1. Hamilton can be marketed as human. surely, he's not the only celebrity who had a parent working multiple jobs and a disabled sibling.

Damon Hill, who I read about commentating, probably endured more difficulties because he went from riches-to-rags. I think that's tougher than rags-to-riches, which is what Hamy's story is - well, up until he turned sweet thirteen and the "Team of Utmost Integrity" signed him.

As for Hamilton being a hypocrite by cursing his mentor, it's not unexpected. He came from a poor background and now finds himself in position of becoming one of the richest men in Britain, if the marketing men can be believed. As I have said in many other threads before, fame and fortune changes you. Anyone who grew up poor and ended up suddenly rich is not the same guy. That's not a dig at Hamilton. It's just human nature.

It's laughable that so many people instantly bought into the gimmick that Hamy is a really, really, undeniably nice guy. I think Schumacher said (after he nearly chopped his brother into a wall at 300 km/h) that F1 is not a place for happy-go-lucky fellows to sit around enjoying a picnic. Many multiple WDCs are moody, super competitive, self-absorbed loners. Those aren't characteristics normally associated with nice guys!

So many of the rich and famous abandon the people who helped them to the stop. Now that he's in F1 and arguably the biggest thing ever in F1 (according to Stirling Moss), he can just say, well, thanks for the ride. I'm not saying he will, but if you launch an expletive-riddled tirade against a man who made you, then what's to say that he won't walk away?

What do you guys think should be done about the family situation at Mclaren?

Does "Mr. Integrity" have any daughters? I know he was an elegant, somewhat sexy blonde wife. She's blonde. Ah, did I mention that she's blonde? Anyway, do they have any daughters? No doubt they too have peerless personal integrity like dad.

As for Hamilton being a hypocrite by cursing his mentor, it's to be expected.

Come on man, aren't you blowing the cursing thing out of proportion? It's not like Hamilton head butted Dennis. Just take out the "F" word, and the whole thing is nothing but................ a civilized discussion with emotions:D . I have used the F word to during times where I have been upset with my friends but that doesn't mean that I'm a hypocrite? Then again it wasn't like Hamilton humiliated Dennis publicly, the conversation was(well should have been) private.

Then again that doesn't soften you up since you have always dipised Hamilton ever since he stood on the podium for the first time, and was nothing but an innocent rookies. Now when he has been a little dirty in his mouth while conversation with Dennis you're probably happy that you now have a legit reason to hate him until mankind is extinct.

Alas human nature.

But Alonso seems to be "weak" as opposed to likes of Piquet, Prost, Senna, Schumacher.

Reminds me:
When Prost was at Ferrari with Mansell, he went political and made sure Mansell didn't get "his" car. As a master at setup and of technical issues Prost made sure Mansell got the car more fitting of his technical and setup "skills" (of Mansell I mean).
(Later, in 1993, he vetoed Senna at Williams.)

Now if Alonso would have pulled such thing, Hamilton would have never been a problem. In an inferior developement/evolution of car and without his setup Hamilton would be lucky to take on Rosberg. But alas ... he's too "weak".

Well there are always other teams.

I wonder if R. Dennis will a decision after this.

Motor racing and Formula 1 has always been a team sport. The racing part is the glossy front end that everyone sees.
The real work is always done by the teams. Hundreds and thousands of people work long hours and use real intelligence and ingenuity to make the race effort possible.
If everyone works for themselves the team can never equal or exceed the sum of its parts. Drivers are part of the team and the world drivers championship is the most important (yet positions are more important in the constructors championship). However back in the old days it was always about the team ensuring the number one driver won the championship. Number 2 or 3 drivers would be expected to accept their role and let the number one through and even give up their car mid race. Obviously F1 is not like that anymore, to such a degree at least, the public can no longer "accept" "things" "like that" going on despite the fact it is common place in all other forms of motor sport.

So now ...

That ancient F1 philosophy is garbage:D. I want teammates to fight for the championship like American sales men working for the same dealership.

Actually, I was responding to IE's assertion that Hamy acted like a backstabbing hypocrite, which I immediately agreed with. As for you using the F word, using the word alone doesn't qualify you as a hypocrite. I think Hamilton slagging off his mentor makes him look like a hypocrite because since the day he entered F1 he has been given this nice guy image. He hasn't really justified that image since he went around calling backmarkers monkeys and now curses Mr. Integrity like an ungrateful prat.

I don't need a legit reason to hate Hamilton, just as most people here don't need a reason to hate Alonso. I bet he's acquire a huge number of haters after the pitstop fiasco. I don't know if that would be a legit reason to hate him, but it doesn't need to be.

But Alonso seems to be "weak" as opposed to likes of Piquet, Prost, Senna, Schumacher.

Is Alonso weak or was he just so overconfident that he could easily put "Mr. Integrity's" baby in his place as No. 2?

true. but, i think his dad and him went thru a lot to esure he had enough money to enter races at the early part of his career. i think Ant Hamilton worked up to 3 jobs to ensure his son could participate in races.

his brother, ( older i think ) is challenged physically, and have to use a wheelchair. so i suppose Hammi does know what hardship is about. he knew his dad struggled with this racing career and his brother. it's only logic for him to realise that.

As was said previously, the only reason you know about those things is that the media have so openly marketed Hamilton as a "rags to riches" individual who made it to the top by having a dream. They do that because that is what will attract people to watch F1, because its supposedly gives Hamilton a personality. I mean how many times has the TV camera focused on Anthony Hamiton and his brother?

Now tell me, what is Kubica's background? Can you tell me the hardship his family has had to get through to get him to F1? Which team sponsored him? How many times has the camera focussed on his family? I'm sure you don't know much about his background. But I can tell you now that Kubica had it harder than Hamilton by far.

the race wasnt bad, im happy to see hamilton win, and increase his Champ. pace , even tho i forced my self to watch the race just to see hamilton win again.

btw after reading some comments here, >i conclude that most of u guys are just bunsh of haterz, you guys just look for lil things about hamilton so u can bash and talk shit about in every single race , since the start of the season, i dont care if alonso made mclaren on top, at the same car hamilton is beating the 2 WDC (ALonso), and he just has 10 races on his record . So most of U stop with bashing the rookkie , especialy <SEL> JUST GET A NEW HOBBY!

I can bash Hamilton as much as I want. No you get a new hobby. Maybe you should consider taking up grammer as your new hobby, because that many mistakes in a sentence needs an award.

This race report has to take the cake for being the most biased, pro-hamilton article I've read:

F1 - Grandprix.com > F1 Results 2007 > Hungarian GP > Race Report

With regard to this statement:
Alonso was the big loser of the weekend because not only did he lose points to Hamilton but his squeaky clean image as a sportsman is gone for ever. He is a man who wants to win and if necessary at all costs.

A shame.

I beg to differ, I think its Hamilton's squeaky clean image that has been tainted. I've read several F1 forums, and this is the consensus. Hamilton will stop at nothing to win, including refusing to follow team orders, which even Alonso does.

well english is not my first language, so i dont really care, im sure u got my point tho :usa7uh: but being a loser and a rasict is much worse than my grammer mistakes.
