The V8 as seen on the M3 does not fit within the engine bay unless with significant re-engineering to the platform and front structure meaning a loss of Right hand drive sales.
Usually, you can break it down to this:Look at the size of the wheels here, this is a full-fledged Z4 M, IMO. I really hope so with the M3's V8.
The irony here is that BMW build the car from the ground up but happened to have neglected this BUT you will find tuners such as Hamann, Brabham and Hartge slapping the S65 or even the S85 V10 into that Z4 in no time.
Pretty lame excuse from BMW to not build the MZ4
