New Porsche 911: T-Hybrid for significantly enhanced performance
28/05/2024

Porsche has fundamentally upgraded the iconic 911 sports car. The new 911 Carrera GTS is the first street-legal 911 equipped with a super-lightweight performance hybrid. The 911 Carrera will also be available immediately upon the launch of the new model. The newly developed, innovative powertrain system, with 3.6 litres of displacement (911 Carrera GTS) provisional values:
Fuel consumption* combined (WLTP) 11.0 – 10.5 l/100 km, CO emissions* combined (WLTP) 251 – 239 g/km, CO2 class G ), delivers significantly improved driving performance. The 911 Carrera GTS Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 312 km/h. The 911 Carrera will also be available immediately upon the launch of the new model. It is powered by a lightly modified 3.0-litre twin-turbo boxer engine (911 Carrera: Fuel consumption* combined (WLTP) 10.7 – 10.1 l/100 km, CO emissions* combined (WLTP) 244 – 230 g/km, CO2 class G ) that is more powerful than its predecessor’s. The new 911 also features a revamped design, better aerodynamics, a fresh interior, upgraded standard equipment and expanded connectivity.

With the relaunch of its iconic model, Porsche has modernised four of its six model lines in just a few months: Panamera, Taycan, Macan and 911. “Our product portfolio is younger than ever and highly attractive,” says CEO Oliver Blume. “It offers our customers even more customisation options and exclusive experiences.”

I like that the EV tech is invisible without having to worry about charging or battery depletion.
Excactly, that is why I don’t like plug-in hybrids; you have to make sure you have enough gas AND electricity, if not the technology doesn’t make any sense. Mild hybrids and EV is ok.

It pains me to say it but the GT3 will benefit from the hybrid tech.

An extra 158nm without turbo charging is no laughing matter. I am sure that Porsche will cut weight in other areas to mitigate the impact of the battery and electric motors.

Am I the only one who is not fond of the new rearlights? Making them a large black piece in the back, like the rest of the Porsche line up, makes the car lack personality IMO.

While others may agree with you, I personally find the taillamps on all current Porsche offerings the most attractive of all German manufacturers. Very clean and function focused, minimalistic and yet interestingly "tech-y". They complement and accentuate the rear end of all and every current Porsche ideally.

Had a good poke around 992.2 Carrera. Nothing about the facelift is an improvement over the 992.1 base model.

The interior feels cheaper due to things such as the all-screen instrument cluster and start-button / light switch module. No improvement in the quality of the interior materials has been introduced by way of this facelift. An opportunity missed.
The rear lightbar is a step back aesthetically, with the unit on 992.1 being far more attractive. At the front, the radiator inlets look insubstantial and cheaply finished. New standard-fitment wheel design on the base Carrera isn't particularly pretty either.

Right now, I'm not so sure that Porsche 911 loyalists will be falling over themselves to get their orders in. 992.2 just doesn't feel anywhere near as significant or compelling a facelift as previous iterations (especially 991.2) did.

And why wouldn't you have enough gas? What a silly proposition.

If you don’t make sure to fill on gas the gas tank will at some point get empty. What a silly question.

Not really. You can get gas anywhere and fill it up in 30 seconds. You have to make sure you have enough gas to make an ICE work....yeah, we get that.
