I voted F10, it really is a beautiful car, especially with the M package. F01 7er for me it is really ugly, real ugly thing, especially at the front end. 6er looks nice, but too agressive at the front. For me the 5er is the best balanced car in terms of design. My top: 1. 5er F10. 2. E92 3 series coupe 3. 3er F30. 4. 6er 2012 coupe/cabrio. 5. X5

It's a terrible state of affairs when the sole sportscar can't win this comparison.

Oh really?

The sole sportscar? And which one might that be then, according to you? The E92? E89? F30? There is no sports cars in that list buddy, they're all family cars and a couple of SUVs and a roadster. Sporty oriented versions of course.
And besides, we're talking about LOOKS. There's no reason a sports car should win based on looks, since everybody has his own preferences.

No, that trophy is for the E39 5er and there will never ever be a 5er again that will rock the segment like that car did. Never, EVER.
The F10 is nice but has some severe flaws. Most noticeable the weight of the car and the dull looks. The E39 didn't have any flaws. It was pretty much perfect for what they could do in 1995.

I´m not able to discuss if the E39 rocked the segment back in 1995 since I was 4 then. I loved it so much, and enjoyed it, since my family owned one. But can say the F10 has meant much more to most of us that the ill-designed E60, with its empty side profile and terrible interior. E39 came from the E34, but nowadays still looks menacing, and sportier than other 5ers. The F10 comes from the worst looking 5er IMO, so the contrast is bigger.

And I´m not sure about this but, Was the E39 ahead of the competition in terms of engines as the F10 is today?. I think MB used to have the most powerful engines back in the day.

M-B did have more powerful engines back then, as BMW focused more on handling and driving aspects, as opposed to engaging in the statistical HP war. The F10 out-powered the E-Class up until this year where I think the E's new V6 and V8 engines have like a few more HP than their F10 rivals.

So in your opinion the Z4 isn't a sportscar?.....ok.

Well in my opinion the Z4 is the best looker here which was why I thought it was a terrible state of affairs that it didn't win the vote.

P.S.
Tolling. lol

Klier the sooner you learn to put your brain into gear and leave your ill feelings for me behind you then we might find some common ground and actually realise that our opinions aren't that dissimilar on a lot of things that are BMW related.

It looks like a coupe when the roof is up though I do agree that it's closer in application to that of a roadster. But do you not think to Z4 fulfill the requirement of a sportscar, i.e. 2 seats and 2 doors.

I am shocked and appalled that THIS is not in the lead....

THIS IS PERHAPS THE NICEST CAR ON THE MARKET RIGHT NOW PEOPLE!! :D

^ It's important to note that that row of LEDs in the bumper are not DTRL, that's what the Angel Eyes are for.. (thank God)

It certainly does, but I think that the F30 with M suspension and everything is more of a sportscar compared to the Z4 in it's current state. Z4 needs a real M version with fixed roof and then we have a real sportscar. Right now it's a bit in identity crisis.

BTW, this is how the front of the 6er looks much better, and it's such an easy fix for BMW....

(put your hand before each side to see the difference really good, it's a bit awkward looking at it fully)

With the blinker above the headlights, and no bar of LED lights

BMW had to engage in the Christmas light spirit. :D

As far as I can see, the 6er has 3 rows of DRL? Angel Eyes, the bumper lights, and the little eyebrows above the Angel Eyes.

Edit: Or wait, maybe you meant that the bumper lights aren't on unless the headlights are.

The bumper lights are not daytime running lights, and that eyebrow is not really visible at night, maybe up close while standing still though, not sure about that. But you can't see it when there's a 6er behind you at night. All you should see is the LED Angel Eyes and the Xenon/LED headlights.

People who have the LED bar in the bumper on when there's no fog simply like the added bling bling ;)

I thought the 7er & Z4 would be hard to top, but then cam the F10 and with time it was becoming more & more evident how the car is well thought and penned. This not another 5er, this is a new high in 5er history. The 6er coupe is just magma hot and the 6er GC is just Wow from certain angles but so far i have only seen briefely one 6 coupe. So F10 for me.

As an owner of an E92, I might be biased ;), but that is my choice.

And in all honesty, it is the only car with which I can't find a single design flaw. After living with the car, would I change some things? Yes. But design wise, it is solid as hell.
