C-Class W204 W204 in Sydney

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W204) is the third generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It was manufactured and marketed by Mercedes-Benz in sedan/saloon (2007–2014), station wagon/estate (2008–2014) and coupé (2011–2015) bodystyles, with styling by Karlheinz Bauer and Peter Pfeiffer. The C-Class was available in rear- or all-wheel drive, the latter marketed as 4MATIC. The W204 platform was also used for the E-Class Coupé (C207).

Anyone out there have a more solid date on when the new model C will be hitting the shores downunder in Australia?....I've spoken to about 5 dealers and some say June, some say July others say August....

Welcome mate, finally someone from Sydney is in this forum. July is your best bet, or early August. Marshalls in Paramatta always seem to have the cars earlier than everyone else, so if you are in a hurry, give them a call if you haven't already

Thanks Monster...

I've already put my order at Airport Express, but still can't get a final date when it will arrive....really looking forward to picking it up...as you can tell.

I think those dates sound about right. MB needs to get the tooling down to South Africa where RHD C-Classes are built and I believe the UK will get their first C-Classes about the same time (June or July). :usa7uh:

Welcome to the forums BTW. :t-cheers:

According to Wheels magazine (May edition) the new C-classes we are getting are made in Germany.

I got a quick question for you glee88, why did you pick the dealer at Airport express, and how is the dealership?

RHD W204 models for the UK market are now being assembled in Germany. I don't know whether this is the same for other RHD markets.

I understand that the South African factory will now produce W204 models for the North American market.

The reason why I chose this dealer is becuase they knew the most about the car when I was enquiring (back in Feb).....and I went all over the shop...chatswood, mosman, paramatta, zetland, warrick farm....just to name a few ...our family have purchased all of our cars from the Chatswood dealer (12 in total over the years) and when I went there, the guy's now left (after x numer of years there)....anyway, none of the other sales guys were 1/2 as competent as the guy we used to deal with so thought would try other places....and straight off the bat, the idiot told me that he wouldn't be able to offer any discounts becuase it was a new model....total fool!...anyway, the dealer at Airport Express was very knowledgable of the car....as at that time, there was really no information available...finally, he was able to allow me to place an order and he said that he's so confident that I'll love the car that he'll be able to refund the whole deposit if I'm not satisfied with it once it arrives to my specifications....that is what sealed the deal for me....none of the other dealers were able offer that for me....He said that becuase Airport Express was actually Mercedes (as opposed to just a licenced dealer), they were able to do this.....the only thing that this dealer can't tell me (and no one else can aswell) is when the car will arrive in Aust....really looking forward to driving this bad boy.

the dealership is very relaxed environment...people are very courteous and really take time to explan things to you...like many other dealers, they offer you tea/coffee/biscuits as soon as you step foot in the door, but the additional level of service, I felt was quite comforting.....the guy insisted I take around an S500 to let me know how the Command system would look/feel on the W204...teh sat nav technology in particular

...it's a small dealership as you can see, and so really not many other cars on display....

Hope this helps,
Michael

Wow that is like a 1st from a MB dealer, usually they adopt a "take it or leave it" attitude, i will definitely go there and have a look once the C-class wagon is out. What are the specs for your C-class?

I understand the first shipment to Australia is from Germany.

Has anyone got the equipment and price list from MB Australia?

Have to wait til near the end of next month, you know how MB Australia does things, they won't offically release anything until a week before the car is launched.

Sounds like great dealer down there. Test drive an s500? If you really insist! :D

In general the arrogance of Mercedes dealerships up here has really put me off. For sure you get your handfull of excellent salesmen, but the general feel of most of the dealerships is not very pleasent. They carry on like they're doing you a favour when you enquire about the vehicles.

Glee, congratulations on the order! what specs are your car? Do the dealers have brochures and options pricing etc.?

I ordered the C200K with:
* avantgarde
* command system
* keyless go
* panoramic sunroof
They do have a price list (actually all of the dealers did), however, they didn't allow you to take them away....they said the pricing was not final, however, was about 90% accurate and could go either way....fat chance of the price going down!!!

they didn't have a brouchure though which I was pretty bummed about.

Bascially the price of W204 is cheaper than W203 and better equipped. The options such as sunroof, metallic paint are also lower in price. However, as Glee said, the final price has not yet been confirmed.

I have a copy of the brouchure which shows the German verson. The standard equipment provison is different from Australia verson(better).

The W204 would be about 2-3% more than the W203 but better equipped, according to the reviews. Interesting to see (if it happens) the drop in price for those options. If anything, I thought they would go up.

Congrats, Glee88, on your planned purchase. Did you by any chance ask what interior colours are available for the W204?

Does anyone know what models they are bring to Aus for the W204?

I'm interested in the C280 and we never got that for the W203.

Wheels Mag and Drive (SMH) says Aus will be getting the current line up as well as the C280 and C320 CDI as the "new" engines to debut in this class. Again, only time will tell whether that's true.

interior colours are the std colours on the 203...however, they did have a new exterior colour, Palladium silver....I believe that the current E-class has this as the dealer showed me an E with this colour......however it's new to the w204....can be described more as gunmetal grey than silver.

The avantgarde pack only has the birdseye maple panelling....it doesnt' come with the brushed aluminium trim....maybe you can option this, but I think Merc is more luxury than sporty and the aluminium is more for a sporty interior.

at the time I enquired, there were 4 models on offer 200, 220cdi, 280 and 350

If you go to the MB Hong Kong site, you can get some idea about the internal color as well as the price and equipment.

MB H K launched the new W204 on May 4 while MB AUS ...(zzz).... July!!!!! Very disappointing.
