XC60 Volvo XC60 @ 2008 Geneva Auto Show

The Volvo XC60 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars since 2008. The XC60 is part of Volvo's 60 Series of automobiles, along with the S60, S60 Cross Country, V60, and V60 Cross Country. The first generation model introduced a new style for the 60 Series models. Along with the rest of the line-up, the first-generation XC60 was refreshed in 2013. Similarly, the second-generation model, released in 2017, is the first in the series. The car was named Car of the Year Japan for 2017–2018.

Wagons and crossovers accounted for almost half of Volvo’s sales in the U.S. last year, so it comes as little surprise the carmaker will be adding even more of these models to its lineup in the near future. The first of these will be the XC60 crossover, which will be making its world debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. However, we can get an early look at the car thanks to these leaked images.

As predicted the production car’s styling remains true to the concept version (pictured below) unveiled at last year’s Detroit Auto Show. The new XC60 drops the boxy styling of past Volvos, and instead adopts a much smoother look with same S-shaped LED taillights, swooping headlights and sleek profile as seen on the concept.
Volvo is yet to reveal engine specs for the car but previous reports claim the range will start with a 1.8L petrol unit, followed by a 2.5L turbo and a 3.2L six. Diesel models will include 1.8L and 2.3L turbo engines. The new XC60 will go on sale towards the end of the year as a 2009 model where it will have to compete against formidable rivals like the BMW X3 and Land Rover Freelander/LR2 plus the upcoming Mercedes-Benz and Audi Q5.

Re: Volvo XC60 revealed ahead of Geneva

No surprises there. Not bad but doesn't really get me excited either.

Re: Volvo XC60 revealed ahead of Geneva

I don't know about you guys but I love it. An A for the Swedes and their ultra-modern designs. :usa7uh::usa7uh::usa7uh:

I usually quite like Volvos. Their new interior is very very appealing to me.
Hpwever here the interior is just wrong, and the rear side here is horrible.

Plain and ugly.

Re: Volvo XC60 revealed ahead of Geneva

It looks a bit so and so, but I'll reserve my final judgment until I've seen more pictures. Those are a little too small.

Re: Volvo XC60 revealed ahead of Geneva

Ιt's an efford to combine traditional Volvo design language with modern elements but in my opinion not very succesful one.

Re: Volvo XC60 revealed ahead of Geneva

Wait a min is that really an official picture? Looks kinda funny to me.

Edit: Yeah I guess it is, but its a crappy one.

Re: Volvo XC60 revealed ahead of Geneva

What is going on with Volvo's styling, I don't like the front end or the side view, only the back of the car looks appealing.

100% agreeing with what you have said, especially about the rear 3/4 panel. That horizontal line should have continue along the entire side of the car.

Re: Volvo XC60 revealed ahead of Geneva

Something about that picture just doesn't look right. The wheels look funny as does the whole picture itself.

Yeah I was a little bit skeptic at first myself. Especially since the car has different license plates. Either way I went on to website for the Swedish DMV to check the plates and the cars are owned by Volvo but it states that the colour of them is white.

But it does look like the real deal.

Exterior is decent but I don't get why Volvo are till retarded. They introduce their new cars with unpainted cladding, and later on when the cars are facelifted painted cladding becomes standard. Blasphemy for a luxury car brand! I still find the GLK to be hotter.

Don't like it at all. Volvo definitely can't do a good suv.

There is a strong BMW influence in it, the sideline and some design parts are very "flame surfacing". But unlike BMWs, it looks plain, soft, almost fat.
The little neon-like bit of light near the headlamps is original...

The interior: wow wow wow...I love Volvos interior, S40 is very cool and zen, and the new S60/S80 have an interior I absolutely adore.

But what is that here? Must be a bad joke. I just can't find anything Volvo in it apart the wood treatment, climate controls and speedo. I can't find anything good in this whole interior!!!

This is completely messed-up. Completely. It is a total failure.:t-banghea
It is the only actual Volvo I don't like at all. In fact i find it disastrous...

I've noticed that as well Raol. The rear is top notch but as you go along the sides towards the front there are traces of lost motivation, boldness and creativity in the design team. I dislike the front bumper as well, there's something odd about it.

Still don't like the exterior design, the side profile has too much of the the Saab 9-3 combie. The interior design is growing on me, I think it is just right, it is nice and simple but not boring and not over the top.

The front reminds me of a Lexus...

But I think these pictures are just terrible though. In terms of combo choices, they couldn't have gone further from what I would pick. The exterior is a bronze/brown color which is utterly unattractive and the interior looks like a pimp mobile with wood. I'll reserve my judgment.
