2014 Volvo S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80 facelifts revealed -

Full details available soon

Volvo has launched a facelift for its S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80 models.
Among these, the S60, V60 and XC60 have when through the most significant changes as all three have received larger headlights which are familiar to what we have seen on the V70, XC70 and S80. In addition, the front grille is wider and has a chrome rim, while in the front apron there are daytime running lights. The lights are horizontally positioned on the S60 and V60 and vertically on the XC60.
The V60 Plug-In Hybrid now has CO2 emissions of only 48 g/km thanks to its revised 215 hp / 440 Nm 2.4-liter diesel working together with a 70 hp / 200 Nm electric motor.
As for the V70, XC70 and S80 facelifts, these have a bigger grille but without the chrome rim running around. The lower area of the front bumper, spoiler has been redesigned and all three cars have received rectangular daytime running lights instead of the previous round ones.
No official press release yet, but we do know Volvo has tweaked some of the engines available (see press release section) and has added the Sensus Volvo HMI interface which has a 7-inch touchscreen display.
Full details about all six models will be available shortly.

Hah way to do a facelift.. just run the whole line up at once..

PS
Volvos fleet is so god damned old at this moment.. its freakin tragic..

cars like the S80 and V70 has been around for god damn near a decade..

And i do know..they are hustling and stressing to get the new XC90 out. That should keep them afloat while they get their act together.

And it seems like they will in the end..with these new owners.

So they got rid of the double front headlights, or the headlight and what's left of the second, if I may. It was an original and distinctive feature, I don't understand why they went with a single piece headlight.

They still lag too much though. The new S60 is very good value for money, but it feels too much cheaper than the previous generation...

They made it bland(er), whilst more manufacturers are moving towards more "facial expression" or 'The Powerful Presence so Characteristic of a BMW':D

Either way, M-B's new SL and CLA type 'eagle-eye' headlamp units is another example of agressive yet elegant expression in the eyes.

Ok, a few hours have passed, and the new grill bothers me quite a lot. It's now trapezoid, as opposed to being a rectangular one, with soft edges. Also, the outline is no more as thick as it used to be. I can accept that it "flows" more, it's more intergrated in the design, but the car, all cars actually, don't have any distinctive cues in the front that would identify them of being Volvos, should the badge be missing.

It's stupid. It's stupid, because when Volvo introduced the 1.5 piece headlights, it was a good idea. It was original and it was instantly assossiated with Volvo. I didn't fall in love with this design cue, but it was new and unique. It was good. And now it's gone. So much for nothing.

But I do like the new lower part of the bumper. Much much better executed than before. I have to admit this.

Also, according to the press releases, Volvo found out that the heated windscreen has been invented and desided to offer it. About time...

They've lost distinctiveness in the S60, V60 and XC60 models!!!
I think so too! I think it's a huge disapointment. Seems like they lost their mind!!

Btw. It's gotta be the first time in the automotive history that a automaker fecalifts so many models at the same time?

Volvo V60 Wagon Starts from $35,300 in the US

One of the most recognizable vehicle shapes for a Volvo car is the estate or wagon as it is known in the US, and it really would have been a shame for them not to bring over its most modern interpretation of the classic load lugger formula, the refreshed V60.
At first announced as a possible no-show in American dealerships, we later found out that it was actually going to make it, and now it’s officially available for order, starting from $35,300 plus an additional $925 destination charge.

For the cash you get a front-driven model that sources its power from a new two-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 240 hp and 258 lb-ft. This enables the Swedish estate to crack sixty in a hot hatch-rivaling 6.1 seconds. That acceleration figure is even better than the one posted by the traditional five-pot (T5) engine with 250 hp and all-wheel drive – it does it in 6.6 seconds and costs $36,800.

The top model is the R-Design that delivers 325 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, an exterior body kit and most of the available options thrown in for $44,300. The benchmark sprint is eased past in 5.4 seconds thanks to its (T6) turbocharged straight-four engine and a system called Advanced Quick Shift that the manufacturer says relies on “transmission optimization software that improves the speed of each gear change.”

The latter is the most powerful wagon Volvo has ever made.

Their exteriors look good, it is the interior that I find way beyond boring and a full class below the Germans (except for the seats).

The facelifted S40 has a cool digital speedo though. I drove one a few times in Sweden over Christmas and its amazing how much more legible a digital one is than an analogue. And yeah, it's cool as hell and made me feel like I was driving an LF-A. Overall its a good car but is more on VW's level than Audi's.

I'm happy that Volvo USA came to their senses and are bringing the V60 stateside. Even if the sales of wagons here is nothing to brag about when one thinks of Volvo they think of wagons. 'bout time

PS
Volvos fleet is so god damned old at this moment.. its freakin tragic..

cars like the S80 and V70 has been around for god damn near a decade..

Not even close to a decade the current S80 arrived in 2006 and the V70 in 2007.

I'm surprised Volvo dropped the V70 R Design, just about every V70 I've ever seen (including the one I owned) was an R Design.

So they got rid of the double front headlights, or the headlight and what's left of the second, if I may. It was an original and distinctive feature, I don't understand why they went with a single piece headlight.

Agree with you on the S60, the front with the twin lights was distinctive and attractive, don't know why on earth they would change to this single headlight design, which makes the front look bland. Also they changed the lower valance to a half VW copy design which is also not as harmonious as the previous design.
