Ford-owned Volvo is facing some tough choices on what direction to take ithe production version of its C30 Concept, in the U.S. marketplace. The main reason, according to Volvo executives, is because Americans, have proven reluctant to purchase small, premium vehicles, such as the BMW 318ti and Saab 9-2. However, offerings like BMW's MINI prove that U.S. consumers are willing to pay extra for a charistmatic, upscale small car.

Three choices currently be mulled over include:
  • Positioning the C30 as an entry-level luxury vehicle for around $23,000.
  • Equipping the C30 with a turbocharged, five-cylinder engine (instead of a four-banger) and raising the price to $25,000.
  • Selling an all-wheel-drive C30 fully equipped for $30,000.
Volvo plans to roll out the production C30 sometime early next year. Projected U.S. sales are 12,000 units annually.

I like it, and thing Volvo has a great year coming too them...

Remeber you heard it hear first....

This car looks awesome, and the price is right too!!!

Beautiful design. :eusa_danc

i hope they make the right moves. Even though the C30 is a very promising project, it think the outcome (C30 concept) could be looking better...
23.000$ isn't a bit much? As much as an S40 costs...

I'd say Equipping the C30 with a turbocharged, five-cylinder engine (instead of a four-banger) and raising the price to $25,000....

The car looks cool, although the back doesn't really fit...

When I saw the front of this car I thought it was pretty good.
Low and behold the profile, it looks pretty nasty!
We already have enough baby shoes out there on 4-wheels.
I don`t think we need another one.

Ouch same here!!! :eusa_doh:

Nastiness, c'mon now, put something nice together... Your literally half way there.

It would be a mistake. The American market is particularly harsh with hatchbacks, and this one will be no exception. The Mini is a kind of fad thing with a cult status that IMO a Volvo could never achieve.

bring it to the canadian market. we usually get the little cars before the americans anyways.

Where if we were not going to be with this Swedish that it comes to compete with Golf GTI, it could not be another site that in the snow. In the photos changes with respect to the Volvo C30 presented/displayed in </SPAN>the hall Detroit cannot be appreciated, because as it is possible to be seen, they take it well tapadito.

Compact </SPAN>MPH affirm that it will share platform with the European of Ford, like Mazda 3, the European Focus or the Volvo S40. The spied on </SPAN>C30 equips a motor of diesel engine of 136 CV, and this is said that to Volvo studying the inclusion within the range of motors that will mount a hybrid motor.

There is one thing that I cannot stand about Volvo, VW, and many others manufactures that do the samething over and over again.

I am sorry but I have to complain. I hate DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS! I JUST HATE THEM!

Why can't they stop making it a mandatory thing! I don't want to buy a Volvo because of it so change it! Now!

Um, you can shut them off you know?

I hate to say it, but this car bores me. It's yet anther variation on the S40 theme(new C70 included).

True the car looks bland, but that first post original front picture was really sharp, that last spy pic photo makes me want to vomit on the C30.

Black cladding is so old school now. W/ this car attempting to be a statement for the young and fashion conscious, you'd think they'd know better. Volvo has a bad habit of not judging consumer taste well unfortuantely. Take for instance the S60R, pitched as a high performance sports sedan for around $38k+, when in reality it's no better than the 2.5T model that goes for another $8k -. So if you're going to buy one, get an S60R 6MT, but why do that when you can get a second hand C32 or M3 for similar money?

You can't shut them off completly. In the Volvo you can go into parking lights but that doesn't turn off everything in the healight unit which is what I am talking about. So if you are trying to give the impression that your car is not on then you will have no luck. However, on the VW's if you are in Park and you pull the e-break a little up the daylight running lights will turn off.

Trust me I have investigated the issue.
