M8 [Video reviews] BMW 8er/M8 Coupe, Cabriolet and GranCoupe (G14/G15/G16)

The BMW M8 is the high-performance version of the BMW 8 Series (G15) marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. Introduced in June 2019, the M8 was initially produced in the 2-door convertible (F91 model code) and 2-door coupe (F92 model code) body styles. A 4-door sedan (F93 model code, marketed as 'Gran Coupe') body style was added to the lineup in October 2019. The M8 is powered by the BMW S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine shared with the BMW M5 (F90). Official website: BMW M
Notice the E36 rear view mirrors aswell..dont think BMW would go as far as this for a CS version..maybe CSL Or something even more hardcore? Isn’t it counter intuitive to do such a project on the 8?
Also, we might be looking at an early LCI 8er, since those versions usually come after such.
Actually motor1 is speculating that this could be a test bed for a mid engine car. Hence the air ducts and stickers trying to conceal the rear windows.

No way ;) ... please do not revive the BMW supercar fairytale.
Please do not disturb the peace of the dead.

I can't see an unmodified 8 series body fitting over such a layout without more obvious modifications.

With basically a firm confirmation that the development of the ‘M Next’ has been shelved, most logical conclusion would indeed be a CS(L) version of the M8.

Doubt it's anything electrical or hybrid because those exhausts are massive standard M8 fare and hybrd/electric prototypes generaelly stickers on the side indicating it's either BEV or electric in case of emercencies. By those side skirts that are likely made of CF, it's probably most likely the CSL-type M8.

It is not to stir the wound but two days ago Autocar in its section of "rumors or was heard out there" wrote that AVH indicated that they had opted for a hybrid system for the next i8, for weight reasons that would penalize a M model.

According to an article on automotorundsport.de it is none of the kind as mentioned before. Seems to be a technology bearer to test different new components and not a mid-engined prototype or M8 CS. This particular car actually seems to have an inline 6 instead of v8.

MNext which was to replace the i8 but be a bespoke M car has been shelved for the moment.
They might revive it further down the line in the next couple of years.
This however is a more hardcore M8, it’s not mid-engined.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
