The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a battery electric compact crossover SUV produced by Hyundai since 2021. It is the first product to be marketed under the Ioniq sub-brand, and the first model developed on the Hyundai Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
Quite frankly, I find it rather magnificent.:

It looks a lot like the 1st Gen Audi A1 Sportsback, clamshell bonnet and all.

Beautiful car, screams Giugiaro design (even the slats detailing seem to be taken from BMW's M1)
Given BEV more efficient packaging and with smaller cooling surfaces, lots of those very clean looking concepts form the late 70s, early 80s could be recycled and updated: Volvo Tundra, Audi Asso di Piche, Lamborghini Bravo, etc, etc

Sadly, we get EQS blob instead

The Volvo Tundra was built, Bertone sold the design to Citroen where it became the BX. Volvo management should have been given a good kicking for letting this one go.

Are you arguing for the sake of it? I know the Bx was a Bertone/Gandini design, derived from Tundra.... but what has to do with what I posted about old concepts that can be brought up to date?

Where do you see any argument? Volvo screwed up, Citroen leap at the concept and as Klier pointed out built 2.3m of them. Volvo management at the time made a mistake just like you have thinking I’m arguing with you.

NEXTMOVE shows how to feed IONIQ 5 electricity into a home and fry an egg with it. May be similar to the EQS bidirectional charging in Japan. :)

first spy shots of the upcoming IONIQ 6

from that amazing prophecy concept to this...i’m a lil disappointed

credits to @koreancarblog on IG

The production car appears to bear very little resemblance to the Prophecy concept. In terms of the technology offered, it should be impressive. The interior will surely be very good as well. As for the exterior design... At first glance, it appears neither exciting nor ambitious.

i had the opportunity to check the car out (not drive) and the car is horribly ugly, not design language, but size. it looks like a compact hatchback magnified to the size of full size SUV. same case as Honda e, looks like a 3,5m car magnified to the size of a VW Touran.

if i have to think about a BEV, i'll think about retro-fit before.

Minimalistic elegance gracing an affordable, "everyday useable" automobile. IMHO, one of the absolute automotive design highlights of the year. Following having seen the first examples in-the-metal, I've been sold. I also like the related KIA EV6 and Genesis GV60 as well.

VAG, do your homework.

It looks weirder in person and it is HUGE - almost Touareg size. Otherwise a great allrounder. Waiting for the N to take the car out of snooze town.

For Dutch speakers (and German speakers who can somehow maneuver their way through the commentary):

Huyndai are killing it. Both their EVs have received stellar reviews. I am glad that they went down this path rather than becoming an OEM supplier and assembly partner to Apple.

They certainly are. As stated in the Dutch videos title: "affordable". And thus, a major threat for German manufacturers and foremostly VAG.

Their EV platforms make all comparably priced German (or other) ICE counterparts look like a complete joke to be honest.

The iD4 looks like a bad joke next to the Ionic 5, there's no other way around it. Everything VW makes does to be honest.

The Skoda Enyaq and Audi Q4 eTron are quite nice actually IMHO. But the VW ID 4 disappoints-primarily in the sense that the intitially declared "value for money" factor is not reflected in reality. The ID 4 is simply too expensive relative to the mediocrity it presents. Of this VAG trio, the Enyaq provides the most appealing package.
