I'm sorry, this is proof of poor relationship between design and technical department. The designer made a thing, but didn't discuss it with the engineers, so that it turned out that the design had to be altered by this third window to be feasible...
And this window could look better. Here, i don't understand its shape and orientation. Why making it so inclined, why making it in the opposite direction compared to the lines of the car and the cutline first/second window? Why making the trim so thick?
It looks wrong. Less inclined, slightly bigger, and it would've been a bit better (while still ruining 100 years of tradition). Here, it's just a designer nightmare, and it just jumps to the eyes...
It may be a technical issue. It may be because of the air. It's a big mistake anyway. The design of the car should've been rethought. That's what MB would've done in the 80's.
I hate it. Because it ruins the profile, and because it is weirdly shaped.
It may sound excessive, but Mercedes-Benz is not Fiat. Such cheap compromises have no place in a Mercedes-Benz. I don't see 120 years of excellence in this cheap plastic trim and awful-looking added window.

The more I see it, the more I think it's real, and it actually doesn't look bad...
Gorgeous!
If this is the way it has to be done to make the car as a whole better then let it be. I would much rather have a minor detail that doesn't totally sit with me then for them to spend extra money on some trick and complicated system in order to get the full window down. Even The Great Mercedes have to have their cars engineered to a cost.
So the full window not being able to roll down is only a very minor detail to me. It's certainly nothing that will make or break the coupe. However, if they get several details wrong then maybe just perhaps...But the new pics just looks so cool.
yep as far as profile goes i think it has the competition beat..

Edit; the BMW 6er coupé side window in the back does not go down at all....and I have seriously never heard anyone about that. Sure the Mercedes coupés are different, because they always go for that pillarless look, but still. If you drive the car, and you have all your windows down, that little tiny window in the back will not be noticed!!!

There is a good reason as to why BMW do not offer pillarless windows. As the designer might suggest it in a sketch but then the engineers always override this decision as a B-pillar actually helps the car more structurally and become much stiffer so it benefits the car's handling and composure more. That is why the BMW 6er is the most dynamic car in it's segment.
