G-Class [Spyshots] 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W464)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.

The suspension. :)

Portal Axles

The portal axles keep the suspension lift to a minimum while pushing the tires further towards the ground. This gives the 4x4² an insanely tall stance without making it unstable. Topspeed

Solid-Axle Suspension

Rigid axles ensure high durability even with heavy off-road use, whilst maximising traction and enabling the vehicle’s ground clearance to be maintained. In off-road driving, the G suspension, which features rigid axles with two solid trailing arms and a single control arm per axle, offers numerous advantages over road-biased independent suspension.

Back seat controls and window controls straight out of the S-Class...

I wonder what they have in the front ? If they're different it's going to look a bit of a mixed bag.

Im sorry, but imo, this is one of the dumbest vehicles they could have made. I mean, i truly can imagine it as a safari haven convertible like the wrangler, that would have been awsome, but not as a maybach.

My initial impression is that this "Maybach" was rushed. The cut-and-paste rear seating is not a good look

Why not just wait a year and debut it with the modernized interior and increased girth?

I want to dislike this vehicle, I want to slate Mercedes for using the Maybach brand as a trim level for an easy cash in (which they are) but.. I can't... there's no doubt that there's some very rich people that actually do need something capable in tricky terrain (South American drug cartel bosses for instance)... so in all fairness to Mercedes they know their market. I mean, is there a reason function can't take precedence over form, and it still be considered luxury?...What would you rather take on Safari? A G63 6x6, ans S600... or a combination of both?

I have to say though.. it looks terrible. Maybe just because it's a clash of too many exterior colours and finishes.. maybe it'll look better in darker colours so the Carbon fibre bits won't look as tacky, and to provide a decent contrast to the shiny wheels and chrome bits.

Perhaps we'll see it in the future? May take quite a few years until the new version is adapted with portal axles, V12, and extended and Landaulet rear to accommodate individual Maybach seating, though. Fly-Wheel writes the present MM G 650 Landaulet is limited to 100 units. :)

Perhaps we'll see it in the future? May take quite a few years, though, until the revised version is adapted with V12, 4x4² portal axles, Landaulet rear and extended to accommodate individual Maybach seating. Fly-Wheel suggests the present Mercedes-Benz-Maybach G 650 4x4² Landaulet may be rather exclusive, and be limited to only 100 units. :)

It's beginning to reek of desperation now. And some are wondering if Mercedes are not yet confident the Maybach can return as an individual brand other than an exclusive trim.

300k euro, I thought it will be more expensive.
G65 AMG is 274k euros, G500 4x4-2 is 230k, so it's not big difference between G65 and this Landaulet.
Are taxes included in 300k ?

Yes, may be more expensive. MB Passion suggests it's 630.000 € plus value added tax, limited to 99 units and may become available to order on April 1, 2017. Sebastian Nast checked out a 6x6 look. Access to the rear Landaulet seating might be a bit too cumbersome for some folks? :)
