S-Class [Spyshots] 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe/Cabriolet

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.
Put aside the handbuild cars with the ridiculous price tags (Phantom/Mulsanne)

Then IMO the CL is most propably the best car in the world and this new one will continue the tradition.(y)

And how does people feel about that?, it kind of follows the appearance of a larger SL.

Apparently people (amongst them, me as well) like that. Or else, MB wouldn't attempt to make the S-Coupe appear like a larger SL, like Audi and BMW do, in the form of "one sausage, different lengths" design direction.

:)

I have to agree with some of you that by looking at these new pics and some of the older spy shots, it still looks very small, almost like this is a new 'SLC' instead of the new S-Class coupe.

Those spy shots look so good..the CL has always been great.
I used to say that about the SL..but that got effed up..so please do the CL right

Nothing about the proportions or lines that say Mercedes, much less flagship Mercedes.

I'm with Tennmb on this one. I don't know what you guys are looking at, because the proportions of this one don't look promising. They don't look like a typical high end Mercedes Coupe. It looks like they've nailed the proportions of the next S and the C, but this one looks off and the nose looks too blunt. It looks like a 6 series in fact.

It actually looks quite small and sleek. Perhaps MB is planning a 4 door Uber Coupe?

Silly detail, I know, but I don't like how the rear-lights extend into the trunklid. The current CL and previeous two gens had it right.

And yes, when I first saw the side profile, it very much reminded me of the 6er.

Yes, codenamed A222, but not yet greenlit. Could make production, or not.

Agree with Mr Mercedes and tenmb, the proportions look ordinary and very unlike MB.

BTW how does one know that this is a Mercedes in the first place?

Oh, its obvious it is a Merc. The camoed headlights look like the ones in SL with camo, and on previous photos you could spot the star covered on the grille.

A couple of things though....and keeping it a little on topic, the background is a LWB W212 FL E Class. I wonder if thats a shakedown car or theyre going to make it a worlwide model. Keeping it on topic though, they must be planning on bringing the coupe out soon after the sedan. Im hoping they dont try too much to copy the SL look, the relationship between the grille and headlights is awkward and the whole rear tail lights treatment is bit meh. The 126, 215 & 216 Coupes are still one the nicer looking models of the big modern coupes.

The shape of the bootlid got me thinking....The number plate on the actual prototype is different, but the rest is kinda close.
