CLA (C117) [Spyshots] 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLA coupe (spyshots & info)

The Mercedes-Benz C117 is the first generation of the CLA series of luxury subcompact executive cars marketed as a four-door coupé. Model codes: C117 (4-door coupé), and X117 (shooting brake). It is succeeded by the CLA (C118). Production: 2013-2019.
Problem is IMO it will not look that good for the simple reason lesser cars in one OEM's lineup/model range/offerings never rival their more expensive cars for desirability i.e. in this case the CLS.

Then again I hope I am totally wrong;)

Several spy shots of the upcoming Mercedes CLC sedan have been snapped during the car’s cold weather testing. Expected to be styled as a baby CLS, this compact sedan will be based on the same platform as the upcoming A-Class and B-Class models, meaning it will be a size down from the brand’s C-Class offering.

Using this flexible new paltform Mercedes will be able to offer both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions of the CLC. Diesel engines will be offered in Europe, while a North American model will likely sport a 4-cylinder – with the 201-hp turbocharged 1.8L from the C-Class a likely candidate. Both a six-speed manual and 7-speed dual clutch are expected to be offered.

Rumors have also suggest a high-performance AMG version making over 300-hp.

The CLC is expected to arrive in showrooms as early as next year.

:t-cheers:

It will be a very cool car. It will target at young customers thats for sure.

This is one I am going to really like! The proportions look great, and it's nice and compact!

Hope it's RWD?

You are :)

Poor CLS, there goes its exclusivity factor, lol. This thing looks exactly like the CLS but compact and in FWD form.

So it actually is FWD?

That really baffles me. I just can't understand why they give this car crappy FWD. Might as well wait and see what the A3 sedan looks like, then. That concept looked pretty hot too.....

I agree about the MB CLC being a FWD car... to bad :(

Looks like it's FWB because it's based on the new B class platform..
Well, if there's an AMG coming with 300+ hp, they better have a 4matic system ready as well...

I have a soft spot for tiny well proportioned sedans/coupes, so I'll still like this new CLC. Being so tiny, RWD isn't even a must (but it would have been so sweet). Guess we have to wait for 1er sedan for RWD (if it comes, which I don't doubt)

The A3 sedan is said to debut in Detroit.

FWD brings one problem to the surface which is positioning. This can surely not sit above the C-Class with such an unorthodox drive train configuration for a Mercedes.

That’s the idea. Despite the CLC being a FWD, I believe this new car can cannibalize some C class 4 door sales.

That's unlikely if the middle seat in the back is occupied by an arm rest or if the size of the car is alike a VW Jetta.

Actually the dimensions looks very similar to the actual C Class. The next C is going to be bigger, that can make a difference. Loosing the middle seat is in fact a negative aspect, but the frameless doors almost compensate this downside.

I drive a BMW E92 and only have 4 seats, rarely miss the third seat. In fact I miss the rear doors, is always a pain the need to exit the car for a passenger to enter, but I knew this fact when I sold the E90 to buy the E92.
