CLA [Spyshots] 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLA coupe (spyshots & info)

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is a series of luxury subcompact executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz since 2013. The first generation was a four-door sedan based on the platform of the W176 A-Class and W246 B-Class compact cars, marketed as a four-door coupé. In 2015, Mercedes-Benz expanded the CLA family to include a station wagon configuration which it markets as a Shooting Brake. As the V177 A-Class sedan took its place as the budget-conscious sedan, the second generation got longer and wider than the W205 C-Class.
Yes, I see a lot of my Elantra in this car... (I do not mean disrespect to this Benz or to inflate my Korean-car-owning ego). But, I see the intent in the design, and find it better executed on the car I drive. Maybe we haven't seen it all, maybe we will be pleasantly surprised. And perhaps the AMG will blow our minds.

It looks Korean because either M-B is copying Hyundai too closely or vice versa.... either way, it's getting dangerously close. Korean cars have been masters at that "fun immaturity" styling sense which is good for cheaper Economy cars focused on younger clienteles on a "non luxury car" budget, but the immaturity look isn't gonna bode well for M-B's long term prospectives as a luxury marquee who commands high price tags.

Confirmed: CLA and CLA 45 AMG with 4MATIC

by Markus Jordan | December 1, 2012 (google translated)

Mercedes-Benz has now not only confirmed the CLA 45 AMG (with 354 hp, 450 Nm), but also the CLA with 4MATIC.

The CLA will celebrate its world premiere at the 2013 NAIAS in January. So far, there are few details, especially as a CLA 45 AMG so far was only speculation.

Although the performance data are currently only given to "at least 350 horsepower," according to our information, the vehicle will make however - such as the A-Class - 354 hp and has a maximum torque of 450 Nm.

The vehicle as well as the normal CLA will be available with optional 4MATIC (CLA250 4MATIC with 211 hp). The system is an automatic "Torque on Demand", permanent all-wheel drive with variable torque distribution. The AMG 4MATIC variant is part of the standard equipment - as well as the 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission, in other models it will be optional.

The AMG version of the CLA features a shift knob on the center console, but in the regular CLA with automatic transmission it's on the steering wheel. The interior is largely similar to the A-Class, including the air vents - more in about one week.

The CLA 45 AMG - C117 Series - has a special AMG rear axle. The normal CLA probably comes with 225/40 18 "tires, while the AMG-brother is shod with 235/40 tires.

As for the engine, the CLA will have in all cases the engine range of the A-Class. First deliveries are probably to be expected in the first quarter of 2013. While the CLA celebrates its premiere at the NAIAS in Detroit in January 2013 - the AMG version probably only appears at the IAA 2013 in the autumn. The A45AMG is probably planned for Geneva, images are expected on 13 February 2013.

For at least one brand, the road to the Super Bowl advertising derby comes through and leads to New Orleans. This week in the French Quarter, Mercedes-Benz is shooting a 60-second Super Bowl commercial to air during the game’s fourth quarter.
The spot, which will introduce the new CLA sedan, features pop star Usher, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton and another famous face to be revealed during the commercial, which may or may not be released online before the game. A substantial social media campaign and “teaser” spots will serve as prelude to the commercial, the tone of which will be foreshadowed on a billboard to be unveiled this weekend near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The outdoor ad’s copy: “One temptation no Saint can resist. Introducing the CLA. Coming in 2013.”
At a Thursday (Nov. 29) shoot for the commercial, directed by Dante Ariola and produced by the New York City-based Merkley+Partners ad agency, atmospheric scenes were captured of a barking Doberman named Cletus and a table-full of children considering a huge ice-cream sundae. Other details are closely held secrets for now, but the theme of the ad is “a tongue-in-cheek depiction of how far a person might — or might not — go to get their heart’s desire,” according to published reports. Segments of the commercial have already been filmed in Los Angeles.
The decision to shoot and set part of the spot here was made by Steve Cannon, Mercedes-Benz USA CEO. In addition to the Superdome naming-rights agreement, which reduces Louisiana’s financial obligations to the New Orleans Saints, Mercedes has executed several initiatives that benefit the city, including a post-Katrina donation of $250,000, a 2010 tree-planting program for City Park and a $1.3 million donation to Laureus USA, which supports after-school sports programs in several cities, including New Orleans.
“I said to Tom Benson when we met on this whole stadium deal that we were going to be a member of the community,” Cannon said in a Thursday phone interview. “We were going to do our best not to just show up and slap logos around and use the Superdome for a backdrop for our marketing.
“Now this is just another opportunity. We could’ve shot this probably easier in LA, but we decided … let’s be authentic, let’s bring a couple of jobs down there. It brings money in and it brings attention, and attention helps.”

The CLA, which will not be sold until fall 2013, is targeted at younger consumers. Its look was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April.
“It’s a beautiful, emotional design,” Cannon said. “It’s sporty, it’s athletic, it’s aggressive. We know that’s what customers want. We want to connect with a more youthful audience. We want to open up our brand to consumers who have not put Mercedes-Benz in their consideration set. This product is something that will do just that.”
Super Bowl XLVII will be broadcast Feb. 3 by CBS, and locally on WWL-TV. An estimated 111.3 million people watched the 2012 Super Bowl. The estimated cost of ads for the upcoming game are $3.7 million to $3.8 million for a 30-second spot.Other advertisers lined up for the game include Anheuser-Busch, Audi, Best Buy, GoDaddy.com, Kia and Pepsi.
“To me it was an opportunity that was too good to be true,” Cannon said. “The Super Bowl is obviously the biggest mass-reach event for marketers in the calendar year. The fact that it’s coming to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, you put those things together and it’s an opportunity we would’ve been crazy to pass up.”

I don't understand why there are two threads on this either. I was actually going request ASAP, that they be merged into a new thread named CLA-Class, under New MB Models/Vehicles. Clearly this isn't going to be named the CLC, so it might be ideal to change it, as I never know where to post new information I find.

I think its the new CLA/CLC coupe in this video timing 0:35, 0:43 & 1.51.
