How do you know it's touch only just by looking at a picture? I bet we'll be able to press them, and they will likely also have a nice 'clicky' sounds.

They will probably offer the same haptic quality as the switches found around the transmissions of the latest BMW models. i.e. Very good.

Yeah, that is arguing in high-tech :). But it's good to know that the efforts of 217 Daimler engineers working on reflectors are appreciated and, possibly, even BMW might choose to stock up on their reflectoneering department, now.
It may not be "high tech," or even relevant where many on this board are domiciled; but in the US, this design is seriously "dated." I mean, even Chryslers have integrated the mandatory orange reflectors into the headlight assembly. In my opinion, this "older" style makes all US BMWs look "dated;" and makes BMW look like a cheap/half-azzed auto maker that looks for easy production cost cuts...

At least you put "quotation marks" everywhere ;)

Seriously though, I get what you're sayng but that's just a personal little gripe of yours.
I am just glad we don't have that stupid rule here in Europe. But I always love seeing a U.S imported BMW in Holland, because they just look special, also because of those reflectors you hate so much :D

On topic without mentioning BMW; I really can't wait to see in what ways MB is going to do to move the segment forwards. This basically is their segment, they set the rules and new standards. I am not liking what I am seeing in terms of design, but I am full well aware of the fact this is going to be the car to beat when it is launched. And it will reign on it's own when launched, as the current 7er and A8 will probably feel old next to it.

It could just be those two as mechanical - hazard and park..

Could be, the S class was the first car in the world to go all LED too. Buttonless could well be their next thing.
Though I am not convinced this is happening and I don't think it's a good idea either.

Time passes by quickly,I have encountered the introduction of W221 and W222 in this present forum.now,it's W223.

W221 was launched in 2005. So not on this forum. Probably German Car Fans.

Both head & tail lights look very slim. As someone mention above in this thread lights look like carried from A-Class Sedan, hope they won't ruin this one!!

looks good dashing through the snow. The general shape and proportion are top notch. The real clincher are the details.

The important question: any idea where the reverse lights are housed? :D

2020 Mercedes S-Class Gets Huge Touchscreen, Looks Bigger Than iPad Pro 12.9 (Video)
Car scoops

Mercedes-Benz S-Class’ center console with the massive touch display, including from the driver’s perspective.

We also snapped another prototype of the next S-Class on film that gives us a better look at the production LED headlamps, as well as the full matrix LED rear lights with moving indicators that follow the look of the CLS. The new images and video have been added to the below. (Update 3/11/2019)

Automakers seem to have moved on from the horsepower wars and are now focusing their attention on a new kind of contest.

Judging from car launches in recent years, it looks like there’s a race for the title of the largest infotainment screen fitted to an automobile. Mercedes-Benz is committed to taking part in this race; just look at the humongous center screen that the all-new 2020 S-Class will have.

These are the very first spy shots of the luxury sedan’s portrait-style center screen which is the size of China. We don’t know exactly how big it is, but since the digital instrument panel is wider than on the current S-Class, the center display is at least as wide and significantly longer. From this distance, it seems even bigger than the iPad Pro 12.9, the world’s largest tablet computer.

Look closely and you’ll notice some physical buttons at the bottom of the screen. They control the driving modes, hazard lights, volume, on/off, and some other functions we can’t decipher. Most functions will be accessible via the center touchscreen. Besides the digital instrument panel and the infotainment display, the rest of the cabin is still covered.

As always, the new S-Class will be a technological trend-setter

On the outside, it’s pretty clear that the S-Class prototype features the production headlights and taillights. However, their shapes remain unknown given the heavy camouflage.

The 2020 S-Class will arrive next year with Level 3 semi-autonomous driving tech, which is a step above Level 2 systems such as Tesla’s Autopilot and Cadillac’s Super Cruise. The flagship sedan will reportedly feature hybrid-only versions using the latest 3.0-liter and 2.9-liter straight-six gasoline and diesel engines. The PHEV versions are expected to offer all-electric driving ranges of up to 62 miles (100 km).

The S-Class is also said to debut a new 4Matic all-wheel-drive system with a fully variable torque split between the axles, as well as an active suspension that will work together with a 48-volt system and a stereo camera scanning the road ahead.

Besides the S-Class, Mercedes is also developing an all-electric EQ S luxury sedan that will use a new MEA platform different from the S-Class’ updated MRA architecture.

Although I find the W223 to be the most interesting S class generation, I am not too fond of Merc's new design language. Certain angular and boxy design cues should be reserved for the sportier models like the C and CLS class.

The devil will always be found in the details. And I hope that MBs' design team has gotten said details "right". They've certainly nailed the proportions.

The interior (instrument/screen panel) is cause for concern, however.

We have seen too many heavily disguised mules and its only 1 year till launch, when is Mercedes going to start taking the mask off?

what...the....f*#%

Just a bad photoshop, nothing to be alarmed.

Yes and no. Of course, it is a ps with all its typical weaknesses, partly frankensteined together from existing models. But still, the one who did this knows the real deal or at least intermediate status that I also shared a couple of months ago.
It will be much more refined but some of the disturbing details are gonna be there.
