Look serious and mean. An 800hp hybrid version will kill everything on the market with 4-doors except the impossibly fast Telsa P100D.

That Tesla is an understeer monster. All it can offer is straight line speed, which is for boring people anyway!

Interestingly enough, the AMG GT 4 door appears a bit larger than the upcoming CLS (CLE ?) that it's sharing "The 'Ring" with.

In an interview conducted with AUTOZEITUNG in its' current issue, Gordon Wagener alludes to the "very close proximity" of exterior design pertaining to the production AMG GT 4 door versus the concept car.

Somehow, I have difficulty "buying that".

I suspect that the production version will actually look far better.

It looks like Mercedes is going after the Porsche Panamera with the throttle wide open, as the latest reports say that the upcoming GT4 four-door model will offer 800hp in its top version.

Base models will be powered by the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 which will be tuned for over 600hp but Mercedes also plans a hybrid powertrain inspired by Formula 1.

This version will continue using the 4.0-liter V8 unit, only now it will be helped by an electric motor in order to produce 805hp and enable the upcoming AMG GT4 to accelerate from 0-62mph in under 3 seconds, Autocar reports.

Power will be transmitted in all four wheels, using the same all-wheel drive system that debuted with the E63 model, with the range-topping 805hp version expected for launch in 2019.

Numbers like these will put the hybrid GT4 way ahead of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which is right now the closest thing to a rival, with its 671hp and 0-62 in 3.4 seconds.

Mercedes is planning to launch the less-insane 600hp AMG GT4 in September 2018, with prototypes already spotted on several occasions being tested at the Nurburgring.

I wonder how are they going to price this 800hp version? Is this going to be the most expensive mass production Mercedes(even higher than the s65?) This is way more powerful than the current V12 and it is in the middle ground between supercar and hypercar territory.

This car looks promising, the power figures are outrageous!

and I thought the top model will use the same engine on the E63S, but they did surprise me!! now please don't use the same interior as the E class for this or the CLS/CLE.

Got to say that MB is on a running riot, competitors cannot keep up with their line up anymore, whether they will sell good or not, cars fans will be the ultimate winners !!

I agree with you Jimmy. Like the S-coupe concept I believe the production model will be far more attractive.

Similarly I think the 8-series production vehicle will be imbued with far more BMW character and will be the better for it.

Are we finding ourselves on the threshold of witnessing something genuinely magnificent ?

Up to the point in which the swirly-foil conceals the rear sideglass partition back, this is looking absolutely superb. What lies beneath that mask ?
