A suspicious looking 612 Scaglietti has been spotted near Ferrari’s factory in Maranello, which was seen sporting a pair of odd-shaped bulges on its bonnet. Considering Ferrari is not one to install gimmicky accessories on its cars, it could suggest that this prototype is running a modified version of the standard car’s V12 or a different engine altogether.

There are reports circulating that suggest Ferrari is developing a new twin-turbo powerplant for its Enzo-replacement as well as previous rumors of a new entry-level ‘Dino’ in the works. Then again, this could just be a restyling for the regular 612 Scaglietti, which has been relatively unchanged since going on sale in 2004.

It has to be a new V12 for sure. The current V12 used in the 612 not the new version based on the Enzo like one used in the F599.

I don't believe Ferrari is developing a new twin turbo engine for the Enzo replacement because they already have a powerful development Enzo engine in the FXX, developing around 850hp, which produces more than enough power to fight against any future supercar competition. What is the point of the FXX program if Ferrari aren't going to use any of the technology developed from the FXX.

Somehow I don't see them going for turbocharging. When was the last time they used supercharging/turbocharging?

The FXX program is indeed a feedback thing for the future Super Ferrari, replacing the Enzo, should be out in 2010 i think.

however, i doubt this has got anything to do with a future Dino. LUca himself said they won't consider a Dino again, because it's too small alltogether to fit the purpose.

Even a facelift won't change the strange and uncomfortable looking 3/4 side window line.
