The hood shutline seems fake.....
If the new G20 doesn't have an aft-grille shutline, I'd assume that there's no logical reason for the new 4er to have one, since they're based on the same platform.

The 4er (F32/F82 to be exact) is my favourite coupe of the modern era BMW (2000s till now), so I'm interested to see how this new package will be. I don't know if this new elongated grille chit chat will be true or just a hoax, but if it'll be true, I hope I won't be forced to appreciate it...

The shut line is real, because there is no other line allowing the opening of the hood, which is a must from a firesafity point of view. The fake line can be brought further ahead with additional cladding but not backwards on the hood.
On anothet note in the first and second picture we can see the honeycomb pattern of the grill.

No way you can tell that at this point. That other line opening the hood will be the actual grille, like the G20, G11 FL.

Well the entire front will be different, so....

My sentiments as well. BMW designers certainly "nailed it" with the F32/F82.
For me, when it comes to the design of the Dreier, I've been going back and forth regarding which version I appreciate more since the E36, as this is the generation that BMW started to differentiate the two cars.

For the E36, I prefer the saloon by a very slight margin over the coupe, even though the latter has a sleeker side profile, but for some reason that I myself don't understand, I like the rear design of the saloon and its slightly more squared taillights.

For what I'm going to post below concerns me, as I think I'm playing with fire even though I'm team BMW :nailbiting::LOL:

For the E46, it's the other way around, as I see that the coupe has the better design overall compared to the saloon that has a vertically taller shapes (compared to the coupe, that is).

For the E9X, I went back to like the E90 more, as the E92, while being elegant, was a bit lacking with its long side profile that is a bit too smooth. The M3 added flare that helped the design to look muscular and butch.

The F32 was right on from the beginning even in the standard form with its side profile that has more design elements and a flared rear.

With that being said, I would say that BMW has among the best mid size coupe designs (y)

Back to the G2X. I'm interested to see the spy pics of the upcoming coupe, as I like coupes more than convertibles. I'm hoping for something that is at least as good as the F32 4er.

Well the entire front will be different, so....
That is correct, but since the chassis is the same, that means the points where the bonnet closes with respect to the kidney grille have be the same. At least that's my assumption.

Also, didn't the aft shutline on the F generation have something to do with pedestrian safety regulations, if I'm not mistaken? If BMW have resolved the safety thing with the new G generation, why going back to the old design?

Wholeheartedly agree regarding the E90 sedan versus the E92/93.

I also find the 2 doors a bit "too soft" (save, of course, the M3 versions) and prefer the sedans and Tourings.

STOP EVERYTHING!!!
It's finally here.

From what I see as the first 8 series meant the trend to continue in the e36 3 series coupe, the current 8 series will be transferred to this new 4 series, I expected the roof drop to be different, more radical or square instead of flow like the current one, not because the current one is wrong (it's very beautiful), but to change the wave

Looks good so far, very sleek.
Yes more Organic and muscular like THE 8. And you can see the kidneygrille through the disguise. The kidney Grille is certainly going to define THE 4;)(Sorry Klier. It had to be done.:D

BMW have been spot on with their designs so I’m confident this will turn out well. The new 1 series is the only BMW design I don’t like.

The kidneygrille, as we know it will be, (and as I imagine it) is the main reason why I set the goal of having it, I think it will be the perfect aesthetic resolution and the epitome that summarizes everything that I has liked and I like of the brand since always.

If the 4 series has a combination of these two fronts and also updated (because those concepts have some years), it will be the car to own for ever

For the rest of the design (profile, back, etc.) should strive hard to be consistent to the front.
