2 Series [Spy Shots] 2021 BMW 2-series Active Tourer Mk2

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.

Ad long as they don’t use Windows as an OS, you probably won’t have both screens crashing at the same time.

It's a tough balance. With a larger display, at a sensib...

Well, not sure about the touch screen intensive interiors fooling anyone. It is already done by PSA on their cheap interiors. With VW and BMW apparently joining the club.

The other thought I can't escape, is fitting this to the 2 series Active Tourer, almost inevitably means, that using screens is now the cheaper solution than the already "cost effective" solution found in the lower end Bimmers..

Electronic screens will be the budget option, with analogue the "high-end" option. The ultimate "premium" option will be reserved for Rolls-Royce, and that will consist of a working-class male, mid-forties, on-demand holding a clipboard in front of your face upon which he's written your speed using a Mt Blanc pen.

Well, at least I shall be able to find gainful employment when I walk out of my current career... Though I'd rather use a Rotring instead of my Mont Blanc.

I actually think smallish rectangular pieces of black painted tin, with white numbers neatly painted on them, hanging off small hooks on a wooden board would more befitting of a Rolls-Royce. Each time the number increases there should also be a soft round of applause, and a cucumber sandwich on hand.

I dont think so

The corona rings seem to be going the 5er LCI / Škoda / Jaguar / L-shape way unfortunately.

The rear end finally looks as slim and slender as the 2012 Active Tourer Concept, which had gotten a noticeably fatter ass in production guise.

Day time running lights look good. That's pretty much the only positive thing that I can say about a car that I have zero interest in owning.

Think it will be a great improvement over the current 2 AT. Not my body style either but could be much worse.

I'm all in for design constantly evolving towards simplification, provided it's for the sake of clarification and immediate legibility of the visual identity.

However, trim it down too much and it starts losing its essence, and I'm afraid they've already passed that point: from full circles to circle arcs (first corona rings), to flat bottom circle arcs, to partial hexagons with 4 segments, to 3 segments, to 2 segments, to 1 almost straight segment, to finally 1 straight dash

I believe they should have stopped at the 3 segment stage (i.e. G20 3er style), shave them off any further and those aren't rings anymore. But no, the 3 segment style hasn't even settled in properly that they've already gone plain-L-shaped 2 segments (G30 5er LCI, U06 2er AT...), which suddenly starts evoking other brands. And from the latest concept-cars we can guess they aren't going to stop there and are ultimately going for the straight double dashes.
