2 Series [Spy Shots] 2015 BMW 2 Series Spy Pics & Info

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.
There will be an M2 first prototypes should be out driving later this year.
In case you have not noticed but somebody is prepping another render of the 2er which its early stage is shown in my avatar although that is still a work in progress.

It is true the Roadster market is not performing as well as you expect but it is not been abandoned . The Z4M became discontinued because the latest Z4 E89 was on the horizon as was the final call for that engine because a new M3 was now on the market.
The next Roadster family will see the progression of design for the Z models influenced by the Vision ConnectedDrive Concept car.

I personally am not interested in the roadsters, but more in two seater coupés. There is the MX-5 and there is to be the Spider (by Alfa), the problem for me, how ever good they might be is that they are not coupés. But this market is even smaller. It is enough to look at the Z4 Roadster vs. Z4 Coupé numbers.

That render is hideous Mr. SCOTT, I hope the new Z5 or whatever you decide to call it this time doesn´t resemble it too much.

Looking at the VCD Concept, it hasn´t aged quite well. Cars like the 3er GT have some details based on its front end, but the whole stance is perhaps too commercial. The realights will probably be on the G11 7er sort of, but I´m afraid it could be another case where we are shocked by the press pics, and a couple of years later it starts to look untastestful.

It´s probably the worst thing about the latest BMWs, they still are cars with a traditional shape, but with added chunky details, such as the connected headlights to the kidneys. But I´m afraid those details won´t look as cool in a few years.

Just a prediction here.

Now that would be worth avoiding the competition (CLA/A3 sedan) altogether and wait for it to be officially unveiled. Looks like "I want one"

Very interested in this because I have an E46 and still looking for its "spiritual successor", proportion-wise. I have the E90 LCI but doesn't think of it as the E46 successor because of the proportions.. it's more like a junior 5er.
Sizewise, how will this compare to an E46, I wonder ??

Ah, didn't your life now just find a meaning?

:D ;)
It did but I also saw the Range Rover Sport on the move which it looked impressive, the Range Rover Sport concept is the inspiration for a third X model , extra utility and a more sporting roofline to bring the best of the SAV and SAC together but with a slightly lengthened wheelbase.
I just realised there was a Land Rover product placement in Skyfall, perhaps Herr Bond will be behind the wheel of this in the next film.
Although it was funny to hear that a Land Rover marketing colleague stated that the clutch of blinged out new Range Rovers on a reality Tv show about a bunch of whores IS NOT PRODUCT PLACEMENT.

The grill somehow looks different.
Yes the grille of the 2er is much wider than the 1er so there is less expanse of metal (or plastic) on the front of the car and that is why that 2er Gran Coupe render does not represent the look of the actual 2er itself .
The M235i is a little rocket , basically the M135i but with more direct chassis and dynamic involvement as per the other 2er models.
Did you see the pre-marketing has begun? We are familiarising people with the 2 and to show the genealogical aspect of 2 we go back in time to the 2002 in someway a spiritual ancestor to the current 1er Coupe and bringing it full circle with the forthcoming 2er.

The 2er will be filming in Los Angeles very soon. The 4er was out in the Californian desert and the i3 was in downtown Los Angeles and will be heading to Shanghai and two UK cities. The marketing launch for the i3 is a huge event on a global perspective. Ahead of the initial launch at the IAA , there will be a huge launch event for the revolutionary new i3 in Munich. Which explains the legal action BMW has taken to prevent the i3 being unleashed on the public right now , they do not want anyone to see it officially until then,
I don't think it is a first that a manufacturer has done so to prevent the premature launch of a new car but there is a lot of pride in Munich about the i3 and rightly so. The i3 is that car you looked at in comic books when you were younger , when we all expected to live on colonies on the moon etc. the i3 unites that exciting sci-fi future with the attributes of a BMW.

Of course if the i3 does not float your boat as they say , there is exciting BMW news just two weeks away.

I saw the pre-marketing. Interesting new way of starting marketing. BMW did this already before the 3 Series launch and other too. I'd expect the same for the new M3/M4.

I think the 2er badge will easily be accepted. That is not the case with the 4er badge. For one there is no history behind, and many do not see the differences, nor do I. The interior is the same, the exterior, except profile, could be confused. With the 2er I see more difference, especially if it will look more like 4er, because right now the 1er has 6er style. Will the 2er have wider track, like Audi did with the A3 Sedan?

I unfortunately could not drive to Geneva this year. But I'm by no means going to miss Frankfurt. What is to be expected there?
- 2er Concept
- X4 Concept
- M3 Concept
- 1er GT
- 4er Coupé
- 5er LCI
- X5

That is a long list.

One hell-o-a long list indeed! And me o'l difficult to decide wich one, sleepless night etc. You have to be filthy rich going forward @ being a well rested and satisfied BMW customer! ;)

:singing: I want it all, yes I want them all AND I WANT IT NOW!!!:singing:

i3+i8 will be there ( according to Scott ), I'd guess the 4er as well, I don't think the 5er LCI will be there to avoid going unnoticed amongst all the other big BMW reveals, perhaps the 1er GT, I don't think the 2er will be there either ( too early ). The X6 Concept debuted just months before the production version ( IAA 2007, NAIAS 2008 real thing ) so if BMW follow the same strategy a glimpse of the X4 is a long way away, considering we haven't seen development mules/ prototypes yet ( though considering Mr. Reithofer recently confirmed the existence of the X4 at the Annual Accounts Press Conference it may be closer than we think... ). X5 is Shanghai.

Another stab at how things can progress?
But is it a stab in the dark?

And if a tree falls in the wood with nobody around to see it, does it make a sound? When you close the fridge door does the light go out?

Who knows?

Seriously, you're the one who's seen the final car so why not just tell us instead of coming up with these cryptic posts. Good grief. :banghead:
