It is amazing how good the old IS looks. Still, after 8 years it looks fresh and one of the most perfectly proportioned cars. Definitely the best looking car in its class.

Apparently, no more manual transmission so Lexus officially does not offer any car with manual transmission.

The engines will be a carry over from previous generation and rumor has it, the IS250 will probably not get a bump in power. 204 HP in a heavier car is simply not going to cut it.

Disappointing, if you ask me for something that aspires to be "sporty".

If Lexus makes this another extensive facelift of a 7 year old design that was ho-hum even 7 years ago, I will think they have literally lost it. Unbelievable.

As long as the car is competitive then it should be alright. The biggest weakness of the current IS is the interior and the lack of engine choices, other than that it is still a refined entry level luxury car with good handling ability.

I like the interior.
But if it doesn't come with manual too and is a just a major facelift of the old car... then meh...

Actually I dont mind the current design. It is probably Lexus most likable design to honest. All they need to do is to freshen it up without making it ugly. The GT86 and the LFA have added tremendous good will to Toyota brand. Lets hope the new IS builds on that good will.

That interior is really nice from what can be seen, looks best in class IMO

Completely agree. Actually I was considering the current IS when I was still driving my E90.
But the thing is that no matter how much I like the E90 if the F30 was a facelifted E90... then it's a no go!
The competition is damn strong and you can't sell an entry level, mass production car for that long on the same old platform.

Between M-B practically redesigning cars for mere mid cycles, and Lexus just doing big facelifts when they're ready for a re-design, the luxury segment is losing their minds with these strategies!

Why do you insist that this is just an "extensive facelift"? Is this just something you want to believe just because you hate Lexus? The 2014 IS chassis is confirmed to be developed and much more rigid (something that is not done on mere facelifts), the wheelbase is longer and wider (something not done on mere facelifts), it has a much more roomier interior, and all new exterior design. It's like you just saw that its body shape and design has similarities to the previous IS and decided for yourself it's a facelift only. God forbid that car companies keep a design theme throughout its car's generations. Hell, the new 3 series would be guilty of being just a facelift if we all think like this.

But I shouldn't really blame you too much because people could be confused by the 2013 RX and LS, which ARE mere extensive refreshes (mid-cycle for the RX and in the LS's special case, very very late into its cycle). But Lexus never claimed they were all-new generations of those cars. They are just trying to have the new "face" of Lexus in their entire lineup.

I was saying that IF it was a facelift trying to be passed as a new generation (yes, a'la LS which is that very thing) it would be utterly ridiculous. However if it is on an all-new chassis and longer wheelbase, etc. then of course that means it's an all new body. As far as keeping design similarities with the previous generation, I'm totally fine with that.
