The current generation of the IS has been on sale since 2005 so it certainly needs a replacement taking into consideration that some of its rivals like the C-Class and the 3-Series have been heavily updated recently.
The 2014 Lexus IS will adopt the spindle grille treatment seen on the spectacularLF-CC concept, while the hotter IS-F will feature a lowered suspension, a more flared body kit and sporty wheels. The prototype seen in these spy photos is the sedan variant that was undergoing some testing in Belgium, but most likely Lexus also plans a

with a folding hardtop roof.
We are curious to find out if the next generation IS will be offered as a hybrid since right now it is the only model in the lineup that isn’t available with electric motors as the CT200h, LS and the RX all have taken the hybrid route.

Looks like the same old car from 2006 with a LS-style facelift. Hope they found some more rear-seat room from somewhere.

If the most recent concept is any indicator, this car looks promising as a whole.
I believe that the rear design of LF-CC concept was derived from the production IS, as well as the trailing line from the taillights to the doors. The concept coupe itself, like the 4-Series and 6-series, is supposed to be it's own model taking cues from both the IS and GS. The concept front is not indicative of the IS sedan, as the headlights look rectangular as opposed to triangular. It's no wonder why someone in Japan was able to make a 90% accurate render of the upcoming IS last year, as they obvious had insider info or saw Japanese prototypes. The LF-CC only confirms the rear design.

Yesterday morning I was at a European patent database searching for any leaks on the W222 and recent patent publications, only to spot newly publicized Toyota design patents with amongst them an unfamilar looking Lexus. Judging by a very thin spindle grille, I think they were sketches for the IS plus a B&W image of a shaded mid-section. Unfortunately instead of saving all of them first, I scanned through the first one and then Chrome & my laptop started to hang, later crashing with a BSOD afterwards.
After restarting, I came to find that I couldn't find in the database those two patents anymore. It looks like the full release of the patents were removed and deferred sometime between when I saw them and when I restarted my computer to look again. I have tried to retrieve one of them via caching this address, but to no avail. Does anyone know how to find images you've previously viewed on a browser?

Try setting your browser to "offline mode". Then browse the history and find the image. When you do, the browser will recover it from its memory, not trying to go online to retrieve it (which it will not be able to, as the file is not online anymore)..hope this helps.

Thanks, but Chrome doesn't have an offline mode unfortunately. I haven't been able to find it any another way either. I just hope someone else saw it and saved them before I did, but I doubt that's likely.

That is what I mentioned a few pages back too. Should room in the rear is appalling for anyone but Costume Play Anime Girls.

Has a bit too much body roll, but I am sure the F-sport model should be interesting. Better yet, the IS-F with the LFA gauge cluster should be the most intriguing car out of all.

Clearly this is the same car as before, but with a LS style facelift. Lexus is really sitting out this round in the competitive classes. They totally remade the GS, which has been a dud since day one, a really poor seller than even Toyota top execs and Mr Toyoda didn't even want, but they merely facelift 2 of their biggest sellers the LS and seemingly the IS. Only the ES was totally new, largely dictated by the Camry having to be a new car, its donor platform. Clearly Toyota is feeling the pain of the last few years (recalls, natural disasters), and it's showing in their product development. Its a wonder we have the FRS/BRZ sports cars.

Here's plenty more. They're out of order this time as I'm really tired and there's too many.

This is looking pretty good to me, I just hope they offer something besides the V6 engine and they increase the shoulder and leg room for the rear passenger, the current IS can't really fit any normal sized people at the back.
