Sport Auto - Nordschleife laptimes

Last night I was driving behind a white Cayman GTS and had my window open to hear the cars exhaust note and everytime the car stopped and accelerated the sound from that flat 6 is unbelievable, it is such a wide variety of sounds through its rev range that it makes the hairs on my neck stand up and I couldn't help laughing in excitement, like a little boy seeing a supercar for the first time.

So Gebhart is 25 seconds slower than the factory man. I know, I know, the factory car had semi-slicks, but come on...

You cant compare both times. Factory time is set with a driver that knows the car inside and out, over a huge amount of time and in the best conditions!!! Sport Auto has limited time in the conditions of that moment and with a driver for whom the car is new.
And who knows how standard the car really is? Little tuning on suspension and turbo can make a big difference.
Porsche had 3 drivers for their record who knew the car inside and out, they even had to go several times before their famous 6.57s...
Dont forget that the Type R tested by Sport Auto has 276bhp instead of the 310bhp Honda announces... 34bhp less and no semi slicks, other conditions and a different driver does count. In many magazines the Type R wasnt the little bomb that Honda wants it to be, beaten by the Renault and Seat several times in many magazines.
Many japanese cars dont get their times in other hands (remember Nissan GTR).

Wow the M2 is a bombshell its 3sec faster than the FL A45 on the Ring and 1.2sec faster on the HHR. The performance figures (acceleration) by SA are about the same as what the E92 M3 achieved, really great car this is.

The Civic R is quite a bit slower than expected on the Ring, over 20sec slower than the supposed FWD record breaking car, thats a huge difference. It matches the time of the Golf R which is a less track focused car, so not a good showing Honda.

Also the track was wet on various parts (written in the article). 100% dry tarmac, I bet it would be under 8 minutes.

Also interesting, that Gebhart is only 3 seconds slower on the semi-wet track than the official BMW-claim... He's very quick!
