So the 7:43/44 is definately credible with proper tyres. Terrific machine.

You got that right. I think I might buy one of these in like 10 years time...will be just as fun then as it is now. Ever since driving the c6 I'm very impressed by the new Corvette.

Lucky you! None of my local dealers will let me drive the Z06...plus I drove the c6 on the racetrack. I don't think my dealer will allow that.

So how'd you like the Z06? Did you push it?

the car belong to a guy I know. I didnt do any advance driving just "felt" the car if you know what I mean.

On Friday the R8 result is here. My guess is somewhere between 8.03-8.05 min

I'd say between 7.58-8.05. It is mid engined, has a low center of gravity, superb chassi and semi-racing tires.

Coming for the horse's mouth I just found out that the SA laptime for the R8 is 8:04, the R8 super test will probably confirm it and will hopefully gives us details about which brakes the car used. Either way the time isn't that spectacular. One second slower than the Vantage and only a second quicker than the 997S.

OK.....you're so freaking awesome......you're a GOD when it comes to predicting Sport Auto Nurburgring times........you're my hero........

But on a more serious note, the R8 time is pretty good, I think, considering it has the same engine as the RS4, which did the ring in 8:09 with racing tires.

No. Sport Auto did 8.09 min with it (ceramic brakes on the front, DRC, Corsa tires)

No, not in sportauto, the laptimes here is only done by sportauto. sportauto times should only be compared to sportauto times, not factory times or other sources.

The 7:46 for the Gallardo SL if true whould be impressive. It whould beat the GT3 RS by 2sec. Anyone know if they will test the Ferrari F430 Challenge?

If that time was with R compound tires, it is kind of disappointing. I expected way faster times on corsas - approaching that of GT3 or CSL. Any one know what tires the 997S used?

Audi R8 does 8:04? What drivers do these guys have? Sunday one?

The mid engined 280 PS 3.2L Honda NSX-R laps at 7:56 minus 30 metres but a ultra modern (mid engined also)gadget laden car with with 2006 technology (comparison 1989 for the NSX frame) and 120 extra ps is 10 seconds slower?! A major disappointment.

even The Subaru impreza WRX STi Spec-C does 8:06 with 280ps and 4 doors with the engine in the front also!

Strange, considering the fact that the 2002 NSX-R made the lap in 8:09 min.

Maybe you were referring to the 1997 NSX-R (280 ps)? In that case the numbers are:

Nordschleife: 8.38 min
Hockenheim: 1.18,4 min

The 1997 NSX is about on par with a Porsche 993 Carrera. Except that the Porsche is a bit faster around the ring.
