It has a very wierd blend of the front being muscular and the rear being more curvy, more muted. I'm sure I'll love the interior but exterior just isn't doing anything for me.
I think they shoulda added the rearlights from the CLS and not the CLK

In a way I agree. I don`t think the CLS taillights would have worked though.
The boot design of the E-Class is quit different. It doesn`t arch down as sharp as the CLS.

We've brought you the spy photos, we've showed you its naked backside... but today, the boys over at Inside Line have posted the first shots of a completely un-disguised 2007 Mercedes E-Class.

They've also revealed some new model details that we haven't mentioned, including the specs of the E550. Expect to see Mercedes' newest E-Class powered by the 382 horsepower 5.5 Liter V8 first introduced on the S550.

Nice.

To see all the details and photos, head over to Inside Line for the full scoop.

IMHO, I don't exactly like the way this facelift is starting to shape up. It has a very wierd blend of the front being muscular and the rear being more curvy, more muted. I'm sure I'll love the interior but exterior just isn't doing anything for me.

One thing I do like though is the front bumper of the E-Wagon with the double stripes next to the foglights.

To add lights like the CLS would cost WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much money and beasically make it a full redesign. If they added CLS-like lights they would have the change the body of the car, which they don't usually do during facelifts, exception being the facelift of the previsou generation E class where the front fenders and hood were changed. CLS-light lights weren't gonna happen, too much $$ to spend on a car that is going to be out of production in 3-years tops.

Only the front looks better. The side mirrors and tail-lights looks out of place. Perhaps the new engines would make up for the unexciting updated exterior. Mercedes better do something spectacular with the W212. I am not so fond of recent new Mercedes models(S,R,B). Only the CLS looks nice in my book.

Looks good to me. To be honest, the pre-facelifted E-Class looked fine to me, classic and elegant, with a touch of aggression to balance it out. I preferred the pre-facelift to all its competitors in terms of interior and exterior look, nothing seemed as smooth, uniform and attractive.

What I'd hoped they'd fixed was performance, interior quality and reliability.

Performance seems to have been alleviated, but the Interior appears to be the same, and Reliability....can only pray and wait....

Yes this is what they needed to work on more than any styling aspects of the car. I've believed this for quite some time after all the newer cars came out. There is nothing wrong with the E's looks. Hopefully the "guts" will be refreshed like they did with the SL, make it feel (quality) and drive better with more power.

Latest rumour is that official details will be released 12th of April just before NYMS.

The New York show is less than a month away, where is the damn press release about the revised E?!?!?

I guess press release is coming a few days earlier (sometimes next week).

kewl.. looks like the W221 AMG package front spoiler.. this will be supernice:D

Oh heck yeah!! I figured MB would do that. This makes me wonder about the E63. Will it have the same look?!

thats the question now..
We have AMG sportspackage on the W221 and now this.. the S65 is diffrent.. but what about the coming 63 sedans.. will they look like the AMG package.. or will they be diffrent.. ... hmm
