Semi Tesla Semi Truck

The Tesla Semi is a battery electric semi-trailer truck built by Tesla, Inc. since 2022. The truck is powered by three motors, and according to Tesla has approximately three times the power of a typical diesel semi truck, a range of 500 miles (800 km), and can operate at an energy use of less than two kilowatt-hours per mile (1.2 kW⋅h/km).
Have they announced any weights/payloads for this yet?

Not sure what the official payload number is but Tesla is classifying it as a class 8 truck which has an upper limit of 15,000 KG / 33,000 lbs.

First spotting of the semi in 2018. Love the sound of it!

I was about to post a comment about how pointless is the sound of a truck, a tool the only purpose of which is to carry stuff. But I won't.

:D

Total reservations is now sitting at 528 (that we know of). Incredible for a company that has never made trucks before.

I look forward to your reports on deliveries of Semi's too.

haha :D, if their history is anything to go by, demand will likely exceed supply and while initial deliveries will be slow, they will gradually ramp up and deliver them....give or take a few panel gaps ;)

This answers the question about the Mega Chargers. I imagine large fleet owners will be buying these together with a fleet of Semis.

I'm glad that Mega Chargers will get their energy from solar panels instead of the grid, but will they have enough juice to charge 3 trucks on the trot?

1 mega pack (3.5 MW) should be able to charge 3 trucks in one hour. Also explains how Tesla is able to guarantee the electricity rates which they’re providing to fleet owners. Won’t be surprised if Tesla eventually deploys these at all their supercharging stations - turning each of their supercharging stops into a grid balancing micro utility. Sell energy to the grid at peak times and store during off peak. Every supercharger site could become a profit generating site for Tesla even when there are no cars charging.

That's fake news, dude.

I just saw three Tesla Semis on the road! One carrying a truckload of new Roadsters, the other one carrying Cybertrucks (best selling ute in Australia, btw!) and the other carrying Model S Plaid Plus.

First pictures of the Mega Chargers going up at one of Pepsi’s facilities. The mega chargers are being coupled with the grid scale mega packs. Power output on these chargers is rumoured to be 1.5 MW (almost 7x more power than the V3 superchargers) and will feature a new immersion cooling technology because of the high amount of heat these chargers will give off.

Also, 2 new pre-production semi trucks rolled off the production line in Nevada last week.

Nobody wants electric trucks. They don't go far enough and have useless payload.

Finally its here!

It's a completely stupid vehicle and a rich boy’s toy, not a practical, working vehicle because its designers have no clue about the realities of transport. Not my words, but the words of a Polish truck driver by the name of Tomasz Orynski.

Not enough range where it'd necessitate a driver shacking up somewhere in their cab?
At a Supercharger? Even with the 1MW charger , that will obviously never be at the level , it will still need at least 2 hours of time to fully charge. A good little nap...
