sales has nothing to do with it. This car will sell anyway cause of history and reputation but it doesnt mean the car deserve to have a higher price. The badge means much.

Technically and comfortwise the S-class is a better car and therefore I don't see any problems with it being more expensive. You get what you pay for.

Im talking about the luxury market.. not over all.. i dont see that BMW and AUDI will be closing the gap to the S cause it costs more.. MB will have like 10 diffrent engines for it.. so it would be very hard to have problems finding anything that fits our wallet...

Point overall is the S will always sell, its popular always hs been, and its a Mercedes which to many means everything!

But there are other great cars otu tehre for the mopney that offer you just as much and for less, and too many people better looking too. Like the A8, 7 Series, Phaeton.

Again to be clear, no denying the S will sell as good as always, but recently it has more competition, and more open minded people than before to look out for a better deal, let alone a different make!

Perhaps in many countries like US , S class will be the best seller but still in other countries like Germany the battle is fierce and A8 and 7 series are definitely closing the gap the past few years. With this rate it won't be long before 7 series pass worldwide S class in sales.

S class is somehow the victim of it's own success. People are tired of having the same car with a lot of others and want something less common. Since S class has become a common sight in most countries many will opt for Audi or BMW just to be different.

Sorry Yannis but that it totally BS. Just like the BMW 3er the S class is a best seller and many people don't care about the fact that the car is kind of common. As long as the car is better than the competitors people will still buy it. Yes the S-class is more expensive than the A8 but it offers much more comfort and technical features.

A car like the S-Class being that popular only makes people continue to want one, especially when a new design appears. There is a rush to be the first to own one.

i guess, but audi has stuff that mb doesn't have:
-fingerprint recognition (in certain countries)
- LED daytime running lights with 5-pointed star-type lighting elements
- Front and rear Audi Parking System with graphic display
-Solar sunroof
-Light/Rain sensors (rain sensors are nothing new, but i don't think mb has light sensors yet)
-Distronic is nothing new. Audi's is called ACC (adaptive cruise control)

..i might be wrong with mb not having some of the above because i'm not all that familier with the s yet so feel free to correct me. and as for night vision and presafe, audi can't be that far behind, bmw and lexus have already incorporated that into their line ups.
