7 Series (G70) [Rumors] BMW (G70) 7-Series Facelift (Spy pics & info)

The BMW G70 is the seventh generation of the BMW 7 Series. Model codes: G70 (short-wheelbase), G71 (long-wheelbase), and G73 (high-security). It has an electric variant, the BMW i7, along with Inline 6 740i and V8 760i models. Predecessor: BMW G11. Production: July 2022-
I’m also surprised by how some people are reacting. The truth is, someone who isn’t familiar with the different BMW models won’t be able to tell the difference between the Pre-LCI and the LCI. It’s a subtle facelift.
It’s subtle but the DRLs being inline with the grill and not above, as well as the main beams being hidden better totally change the vibe of the car. Goes from looking like a 4 eyed insect to an appealing aggressive design. Makes a huge difference, at least to my eyes.

For the 7er the extreme image changing facelift (always for the better) is not rare:

E32: none, and not needed
E38: none, and not needed
E65: yes, and much needed
F01: none, and not needed
G11: yes, but not needed
G70: yes, and very much needed

50/50 for image changing facelifts now.

This, together with being slightly bigger and having LEDs extending all the way to the edge on both sides visually broadens the front which in turn lessens the mass and sheer size of it.

Also worth pointing out that they are straight now and not slightly slanted inwards like on the pre facelift. And another highlight (for me) is the new DRL position neatly extending into the side character line.

E32 : Wider Kidney grille from the 750 when the V8’s were introduced.
E38 : Headlights with corona cut-outs and clear lenses.
E65 : facelift as intended. Halfway through the Life Cycle in 2005.
F01 : New facia and introduction of “squircle” LED’s.
G11 : LCI introduced halfway through lifecycle, ushering in the Grand-Klasse Luxury models under “Bayern Motoren Werke” brand identity.
G70: Lead vehicle to show the progression of the Grand-Klasse Luxury segment.

So this is the Pure Excellence version, without the M package. The only question is where the chrome trim is.

Now imagine what the Alpina G72 based on this Pure Excellence model will look like.

The 7 Series has always looked better in Pure Excellence. The M Package has never suited this large limousine

Certainly an improvement changing the lights to vertical and enlarging the intakes with sharper angles. It's still going to have a massive front and high bonnet line. Not elegant but has presence.

It's still going to have a massive front and high bonnet line.

Yeah but when everything is about sheer mass, it remains in proportion.

Can't wait for Alpina vs Maybach. That'll be an old school power battle.

Can't wait for Alpina.

Same here.

The exterior design of the upcoming ALPINA LCI G70 will allegedly "significantly distinguish itself" from that of the "standard" LCI G70. Other than rims, ground clearance, optional signature striping and slightly modified front and rear aprons, I cannot imagine anything more. But still...who knows ?

What get's me excited is the speculation regarding a bespoke ALPINA concept vehicle in the not too far future. The first exclusively Maximillian Missoni-supervised piece of ALPINA designcraft.

So this is the Pure Excellence version, without the M package.
I think that's the M Sport version, judging by its aggressive look, and the other leak we saw, which was more understated and "covered up," is the standard package.

I hope so, but it seems to me that for now it's just speculation. The current environment is against investing so much in a low-volume model. I agree that the only way to see the new designer in action before several years have passed would be through a concept car. Hope shouldn't be lost.

Despite the passing of the years, I’ve changed my mind and now think the E65/E66 Pre-LCI looks better than the LCI. The LCI looks like a typical BMW, whereas the Pre-LCI was futuristic back in 2001 when it was released. It was hard to look at the 7 Series when you saw the E39 M5 right next to it. Between those cars, it looked like there was a 30- to 40-year gap in design. So I consider the E65/E65 PreLCI a beautiful design. Beautiful rear.

I'm not so sure, because the one in the attachment has a typical M-style bumper. That's why I consider that second one to be a Pure Excellence model, since it has chrome accents instead of the Shadowline trim found in the M package.

This is definitely not the M package, but the Pure Excellence—and why? Because it features a two-tone paint job, Individual Multi-spoke 1055 Bicolor wheels, and chrome accents, which are barely visible since the interior lighting was dimmed.
And I’ll say that, just like with the Pre-LCI, the LCI will look better in dark paint colors because that black section around the headlights will be better camouflaged. On a light color, it stands out too much.

Despite the passing of the years, I’ve changed my mind and now think the E65/E66 Pre-LCI looks better than the LCI.
I never doubted it for a second at the time; the pre-LCI was about giving design classes to everyone who was around at that time, but with the LCI they made it commonplace.

Chrome trim at the bottom of the front bumper and window moldings are also bright. And the side mirrors are from the Pure Excellence package, too.

I don't know about you, but I really like the Pure Excellence version. The Alpina G72, based on this front bumper, will look fantastic. The M package version doesn't look quite as good—it's full of Shadowline trim.
