5 Series [Rumors] Any word on details of 2020 5er LCI?

Front lights look slimmer and more attractive, but not so sure about the kidneys, hoping the thick upper section is not going to be like that for production.

I am not digging the new infotainment screen, it looks weird, too big for the dash somehow. I prefer the old screen and also older digital instruments.

I agree I also prefer the old dials, but overall it’s an improvement and the bigger screen can only be a positive....I’ll repeat this again the interior in this car is going to age relatively very well.

It's startling that we've had to wait until the 2020 LCI to finally be back to decently thick headlights, actually back to 2010 F10 levels... By all standards the G30 is a stunning sedan, but the pre-LCI headlights really are disproportionately thick

So it is quite a subtle FL after all. A slight change in the headlights, new front bumper, and 3D rearlights with new graphics and the same shape.

Nothing to do with the 7er FL.

I don't know about the same size for the rear lights SKY, but for the rest yeah, we weren't expecting BMW to raise the hood 10 cm

Have to disagree with you. They don't look "disproportionately thick" on this picture.

Still think this (as well as the G31) is (are) how a BMW should look like. RWD layout and proportions, proper "Hof-kink" and
not too many "forced" surfaces, lines and grille. Glad BMW isn't going to radical way on this (theses) one(s).

I was really about what they were going to do with the grille, but seeing that picture has made me happy. I do think it is a beautiful-looking 5 series. I dare say it looks miles better than the pre-LCI one.

Now, on to my second concern, the outdated rear lights. Here's hoping they will compliment the lovely front.

The G20's angel eye shape still evokes a hexagon (although it is now only left with 3 sides/segments instead of the usual 4). The LCI G30 chips away at the shape some more and now only leaves 2 sides, just a plain L shape, which today has become a very generic DRL shape as seen above. BMW should have kept the shape at a bare minimum of 3 segments.

Nope, the Vision Future Luxury's DRLs still hint to a visual loop shape, which was the whole idea of the angel eyes to begin with (though they have become increasingly more angular and minimalistic over the years):

The same goes for the LCI G11 7er:

The LCI G30 5er, on the other hand, ditches any such hint to a loop shape, with just two open angle plain L shapes:

A visual signature which, again, has since been adopted by other manufacturers. So yes, BMW historically introduced the double-eyed DRL theme to begin with and was then copied by others, but the BMW angel eyes never really could be confused with any other brand, precisely because they have always retained some sort of visual loop shape evoking two double eyes. Now however this new completely flat double L interpretation is exactly what these other brands have been doing for years, so yes, it is now BMW deliberately losing part of its visual identity and copying, plus not every customer will know who actually invented the whole thing in the first place.
