I really like that particular detail in the taillights, that blackening / shading / smoking around those thick reds look super good, they have strength, as you say like in the 2 coupe leaks

I was about to say the same thing. Furthermore BMW barely facelifted the F10 but I want to believe that this changes to the G30 taillights are real.

Amazing effort bringing the G30 in line with 3 and 7 series. Designwise (most of the portfolio) now far ahead of competitors, especially the one form Stuttgart.

in fairness, the hoodline and grill size/ shape are dictated by the pedestrian safety laws in Europe. That said, I do get what you mean by the headlight signatures. Not sure whether the round twin lamp halos would look fresh after being used for almost 20 + years

This looks noticiably better than the A6 and, especially, the E-Class FL.

We have one in the garage since 2017 and no problems at all. It's true now the 3er has become so interesting it is more dificult to spend the extra money on something bigger. But the proportions and classic interpretation of BMW themes in the 5er has to be praised.
