A6/S6/RS6 RS6 beating the world record speed on ice (332 km/h)

I think Lamborghini should take it next, then a Seat, followed by a Bugatti and finally a Golf. :D

It wasn't Audi that did this record run by a manufacturer of winter tyres. :usa7uh:

Quite frankly, I don't see how this is in any way sillier than competing for the fastest time around the Nürburgring in a road car. Neither is really relevant in the context of 'normal' motoring.

I don't agree with your example, one is a valid marketing tool and does show the credibility of the handling of a performance car were as the other is f***ing insane, it's the equivelant to racing a rocket car across the salt lakes on a razor's cut where in a split second everything could go horribly wrong.

They meaning the people who done it might say it was perfectly safe but from my eyes it's plain loopy. :t-crazy2:

Don't get me wrong; I love most parts of competitive motoring - I was merely referring to the reception of the Bentley record. It is quite understandable that people who don't really get ice at all, think this is somewhat remote.

How about a Skoda Yeti... that seems born for the snow and ice! :D

OK we all know it's a stupid world record to hold but apart from the limiter remover does anyone know whether this RS6 was stock because 206mph is a decent turn of speed.

I think it's rather hard to argue that pushing a road car to the extreme on a racing track is any less 'loopy'. :) And I still don't see the relevance unless you regularly take your car on the track and push it to the limit.

Tuned to 800 hp, apparently...

I read that there was a record attempt here in Sweden. Only difference was, in Orsa they had just 2 kilometers of ice, instead of 15 (as used by the silly Finnish). The fastest one reached 274 km/h as an average going both ways. Here too it was an 800 hp Audi...

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
