Ghost Rolls-Royce Ghost

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is a full-sized luxury car manufactured by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The "Ghost" nameplate, is named in honour of the Silver Ghost, a car first produced in 1906. The production model was officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Ghost Extended Wheelbase was introduced in 2011. During development, the Ghost was known as the "RR04". It was designed as a smaller, "more measured, more realistic car" than the Phantom, aiming for a lower price category for Rolls-Royce models.
If you really want to have an idea on the presence of the car, watch the clip of the testdrive by the top engineer who was in charge of it.

The car is also available with HUD, and it features some digitalized cockpit features from latest BMW cars as well (beside the iDrive-like system & the HUD) ... Just like the latest BMWs also this RR is packed with latest tech ...

Also: the interior - interesting nobody commented yet - is very Art-Deco inspired (even more than Phantom): with all that combination of wood, metal, ceramics & that notorious green glass details. Not to mention white opaque dial & clock backgrounds ... :)

That's also why art deco style was chosen for modern RR designs: since when applied to / combined with traditional stuff (eg RR brand) such design is seen as utterly elegant, glamorous, functional, and modern.

Lovely, I do like the design of the interior quite alot. Clean, unfussy, and airy. Do we have any detailed shots of the interior, i.e close ups of the green glass, ceramics?

EDIT: Here's a link to a gallery with just that: http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/hands-on-rolls-royce-silver-ghost/full/#2

It really is a Rolls Royce you would rather drive then be driven in. Even the interior is more inclined towards the driver in my own opinion. Would love to own and drive one of these, would be something. (Goes to buy lottery ticket)

What I find most interesting about the Ghost are the slight nods to various features of the F01/2 7er. It may be all in the proportions but when I look at the Ghost I can't help but feel at times I'm actually seeing through the car and seeing the 7er. So it really does live up to it's name in that capacity. I can say the steering wheel is total BMW AG corporate parts bin raiding, which is no bad thing since the parent company is a premium only manufacture.

Of course same solutions will be found in RR as in BMW. Do you think they will go & develop a complete new solution for a brand that sales 1000 - 1500 cars a year. :t-hands:

Same case with Bentley: where lots of VW (Phaeton) & Audi solutions are used ...

Also in this box: Lamborghini ... and soon (I'm afraid) Porsche ...

I forgot how pretty this car is ... This Vs Mulsanne .. I just dont know ..

Correction: This Vs Flying Spur

Honestly, I would probably go for the Rolls-Royce Ghost over the Flying Spur when it comes to looks. Performance might be a difference story when it comes to the bentley continental flying spur speed.

I am sure the Rolls-Royce Ghost will look a lot more sophisticated and probably be at least $30k or much more.

I would go for the Ghost too over the Bentley FS, but the problem is the Rolls won't touch the Bentley in performance. Straight line maybe, but nothing else. The Ghost and the FS might be competitors on paper/price/market position etc. but in reality they're really different takes on the segment. The Speed version of the Bentley simply isn't a Rolls like car, and vice versa.

Ghost sits nicely in between Flying Spur Speed and Mulsanne imo. And I'd take it over either two without a single doubt!

Merc I agree. Ghost coupé will be more competiton to the Flying Spur/GT Speed line. It will be the sportiest RR ever probably, more towards a Bentley.

The Ghost is simply the nicest limo imo, much better than the Phantom, than the new Bentley, and of course than the Maybach.

Yeah they are pretty much the exact same type of cars. Both based on German cousins and have mass produced underpinnings. The Ghost is by any means no more bespoke or exquisite than the Flying Spur. They are both of the same breed -- German saloons dressed in bespoke British suits. While the Phantom and Mulsanne are the final destinations of luxury built on bespoke and highly exclusive aluminium platforms, come in SWB and LWB in addition to endless of customisation options like a wall dividing the cabin into two. The Ghost and Flying Spur simply don't compete whatsoever in regards to exclusivity and customisation.

The reason the Roller is more expensive is because of the lower production numbers. VAG produce 5,000-10,000 Continental GTs every years and can therefore sell the car at an attractive price compared with the Ghost which has it's production limited to 2,000 cars. It is the profound success of the Continental GT series that enticed Rolls Royce to develop the Ghost which has very marginal costs just like the Flying Spur and will serve as an excellent bread and butter car for Rolls Royce in keeping the company profitable.
