Ghost Rolls-Royce Ghost

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is a full-sized luxury car manufactured by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The "Ghost" nameplate, is named in honour of the Silver Ghost, a car first produced in 1906. The production model was officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Ghost Extended Wheelbase was introduced in 2011. During development, the Ghost was known as the "RR04". It was designed as a smaller, "more measured, more realistic car" than the Phantom, aiming for a lower price category for Rolls-Royce models.
stunning.. the design is kinda begging for modern lines but all those traditional RR elements remain..
had a look at Phantom pictures and suddenly it looks obsolete and even weird compared to this!

Ghost competes with Arnage family ... price wise.
Unless VW won't position the next Arnage & Co. higher to take on Phantom & Maybach.

Well VW most definitely is gonna move the CGT family upmarket to rival the new RR and the Arnage family is gonna in turn move up to battle the MM and Phantom.

I'm not so sure about that ... Higher price would mean lower sales & production - which would mean cutting down production capacities at Bentley ... closing lines, cutting workforce etc.

Mind the current Bentley production capacities are very high due to high demand - because of attractive pricing. Moving CGT prices several tens of thousands Euros higher would consequently lower the demand.

Bentley works best at current positioning. VAG also have Bugatti in the brand portfolio ... to reach even beyond RR & Maybach. So instead competing directly with RR & Maybach, VAG are offering one brand priced a bit lower, and one brand priced above RR & Maybach.

The Arnage is a MM and Phantom rival. It's a very exquisite car with customers worth an average of €300 000 000. Different type of wood and leather is used in the car than what's seen in the CGT and the process of building an Arnage is significantly longer too. What makes the Phantom and MM look more expensive is predominantly the size and lower production, but the Arnage is as uncompromised as a luxury car can get. From the spyshots seen, it's clear that the new Arnage will take a substantial leap in size in order to stand tall in the dick measuring contest going on between RR and MM.

I'm still waiting details about the Ghost and it's production as I want to know whether it's just a smaller Phantom with the exact same materials and process, or if it's simply the Flying Spur of RR but priced higher.

This car looks stunning. I just hope they keep it at low production numbers, thus keeping it exclusive and "beyond reach".
IMO the CGT made the Bentley and VAG good money, but damaged Bentley's image.

The car looks nice...I still hate the fact that BMW is behind it, but design wise the car is outstanding.

I would love to see a Bentley Flying Spur vs Rolls Royce Ghost test.

The car doesn't really look like it, but it's extremely high tech too...I mean Head Up Display in a Rolls??? :D :eusa_danc

HoH: Flying Spur will be eaten alive!

.

Exact same materials and process, the interior of both the Phantom and Ghost is being made by the same people with the same materials on the same 'production line'

INSANE. If BMW/RR wanted to achieve instantaneous gratification at first sight I say they've accomplished it. :t-cheers:

Where is that stated? I would not be too sure about that and the photograph below is a prime example of why. This fold out table is a highly clumsy piece of engineering that you would not see in a Phantom or RR. Screws on the sides are exposed and there is mixture of black and silver painted metal. It's not a very handsome execution. The leather look much weaker too, especially the one on under AC vents over the transmission tunnel. Sorry but the craftsmanship in the Phantom and Arnage interiors is on a different level.

it's amazing how many forummembers can judge craftmanship and quality just on sight.

Like Rik said above, you cannot judge the quality of these cars just by pics on the internet. Doing so is stupid.

Anyways, all that was stated in the press release. It's not like I'm making it up or anything.

I don't like it. Prefer the Phantom, by far. The shape of the car, these few soft lines, are hurting the majesty of the car.

The design of the interior is not very inspiring either. For the price of an Arnage, no hesitation for me...

Concerning the craftmanship...

Black plastic with apparent screws does say a lot about the craftmanship, even if you don't feel the quality of the screw and how well it matches the screwdriver's head... :D

Such details have no place in such an über-expensive car. Even very good screws must be hidden.:D

I hate that BMW is behind it, but the car looks good in my book. Doesn't look cheap at all compared to the Phantom like the Flying Spur to the Arnage.

Matter of fact I hope RR/BMW has better sense then to put this in Arnage price range when it should be in the Flying Spur price rang. I know they got bettern sense then that.

You can NOT see that it is plastic, it could be black metal, could be coated with a fine leather trim, ...
The BS continues.
