Ghost Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is a full-sized luxury car manufactured by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The "Ghost" nameplate, is named in honour of the Silver Ghost, a car first produced in 1906. The production model was officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Ghost Extended Wheelbase was introduced in 2011. During development, the Ghost was known as the "RR04". It was designed as a smaller, "more measured, more realistic car" than the Phantom, aiming for a lower price category for Rolls-Royce models.

Yup those are some nasty wheels, they looks like something Mansory would come up with.

The interior of that ghost is even worse... purple.

Some of Rolls-Royce's recent special editions reflect what aftermarket tuners and shops have been doing for years, except now at 2-3 times the cost. The black out Rolls' I see look a bit cheap as opposed the standard factory brightwork

Any forum members have experience with the Ghost, Series I or II? Any issues?

Its piqued my interest for some time, but I’m not fully convinced. Here in NYC its relatively ubiquitous and inconspicuous, especially in black or gray. There are substantial discounts on last year’s Series II models and earlier. However, some practical issues are the inability to find local insurers, fairly frequent maintenance under warranty, and the absence of an extended warranty. Most Rolls owners drive less than 5,000mi per annum, so the aftercare program for privately owned Rolls’ is catered towards occasional drivers, despite the Ghost being marketed as an everyday driver.

The German car enthusiast side of me says look towards a nicely-optioned S-Class and be done with it, but I’m looking to replace the 6er GC with a S-Coupé separately.

No experience, but I can be your chauffeur if you want :D

Why don't you go for the wraith or dawn? Weekend cars maybe.

Daily driver in NYC, you'd need awd for the winter, no?

Did you go for that S63 coupe you talked about a while back?

(y) I prefer to have a four door as a daily for convenience. Having had just a 2 door DD in the past, there can be very inconvenient moments. I think the Ghost's weight (5450lb.) coupled with a Goodyear snow tires I believe would do the trick. Plus if pattern of one storm winters continues, I'll get by just fine walking. Not huge on convertibles, especially one with a mark-up and a year-long waitlist and the Wraith's hunchback fastback design isn't quite to my liking. Manhattan Motorcars has the most new/used Ghost inventory on the East Coast, so they're just looking to move units.

Another car up strongly up for consideration is a M6 GC Comp. (+ Still the best looking BMW, brilliant and easily tunable powerplant, familiarity / - replacement imminent, ride on NYC streets, slightly hesitation then jerkiness of the DSG).

When July hits (2 yr. mark for my 650 and I estimate it'll have 55,000mi then), I'm hoping to replace it with a discounted S63 Coupé or a 2015 Edition 1. With all the options available on the S550/63, finding one with the right options and color combination is a nationwide search.

Does look pretty bad there, doesn't help that it all looks 90's Toyota Grey either! I don't mind plastics as long as they're well designed, suitable for purpose and well stuck together though, and the switch of course needs a good positive action with no wobble - my biggest gripe comes from the leather work... I'd have rather they used something else in that area and avoided the unsightly stretching of the leather as it flows into the recess for the controls.

.. do love the Ghost though.

I am probably in the minority here, but I never liked the design of the dashboard and the buttons of the Ghost.

The buttons used for the radio and nav are fine, but Rainer's post does exemplify a weakness, that is the HVAC controls seem out of place and, yes, cheap.

I will also add this cheap looking panel to the list. Surely there is a better way of hiding them from sight.
