Emira [Report] Lotus Emira (type 131)

The Lotus Emira (codenamed "Type 131") is a sports car manufactured by the Lotus Cars. It is intended to be the firm's final vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine.
Yes, corporations don't have values. But they should stay loyal to their brands to the extent possible, especially when the brand's engineering identity is as iconic as Lotus's. Lotus can't and won't keep up with the likes of Porsche and Ferrari if it goes mainstream. The lightness of a Lotus, its pure handling prowess, are what attract (or did attract) customers to the brand.
Just want to point out - Lotus is not the same corporation it was. It is a Chinese company trying to use a western brand to make it's wares more palatable to the western consumer. Emira is just the lipstick on the proverbial pigs.

Dry as a bone

Note: Tires used in the test was Goodyear Eagle F1, my mistake. I'm uploading tons of stuff and mixed up tire names.

Jethro’s review is the polar opposite to Harry Metcalfe’s review. Also what is up with Harry getting the variant with the performance tires testing it on country roads while Jethro gets the car with the comfort tuned tires and decides to take it on track.

LOL, take of your British glasses please.

This Lotus looks once more like a f'ing cheap kit car. Terrible. Truly UGLY.
At least the Emira exist.

The 718 is the only alternative small sports car. The TT and SLK are dead, V6 R8 no longer exists and the Z4 has a drivetrain that you can get in many other bimmers.

Like many others I would also have prefered that the Emira was lighter, after all lightness was the trademark of Lotus. I remember I was very disapointed when the Evora was launched, it weighed the double of a Elise and the same as a Boxter/Cayman, so with this the lightweight period of Lotus ended. Now they will also make a SUV…
If Alpine is able to make a superb 1100 kg sportscar, why can’t Lotus…?
If lightness and driving engagement is a priority then the Emira or other new cars aren't worth considering, just buy a used Elise or Exige.

The latter is by far the most exhilarating car that I have ever driven. The gear changes, engine sound and handling makes you feel like a super hero.

I heard that the Emira for Quattroruote blew up (strange as it’s almost the same engine as previously) and that the general quality of the Emira cars that have arrived at dealers is more than subpar. Let’s hope this is true for just a few cars.

The 3.5 Supercharged V6 has a nice engine note inside the cabin, surprisingly the whining of the supercharger is not really noticable.

In other words, don’t buy the first model year of a car built on a new production line by a manufacturer which hasn’t launched a new model in over a 10 years.

The car looks hot though.

Self explanatory.🙂

It's an amazing little car man, as for the sound it's all these rules and regulations forever getting more stringent that strangle other cars. Unfortunately.
