Emira [Report] Lotus Emira (type 131)

The Lotus Emira (codenamed "Type 131") is a sports car manufactured by the Lotus Cars. It is intended to be the firm's final vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine.
Oh definitely, I bought anything and everything UK wise two and four wheeled modified, Japanese and American. Way too many to mention. But the constant was Autocar. I still purchase them now on "special" testing occasions like SF90 or Artura or Turbo S etc.:)

9.00 minutes mark. Legendary driving and cornering skills and she absolutely dominates that Evija.

I forgot Cars and Car Conversions and it’s spin-off Mini World.

After 7 months delay I recently gave my friend a ride to collect his Emira.

His spec is by far the most exotic one. It genuinely looks like a supercar at 2/5ths of the price.

The red colour has depth and changes with lighting, giving the car a higher perceived value. Think 720S or 488 in a deep red colour.

Black roof is a must. Combined with black alloys and lower side skirts, it makes the car look longer and sleeker. In comparison, silver alloys and colour coded roof result in a squashed looking car that's a 718 rival.

Interior spec chosen is part leather and alcantara.

The most dissapointing colour was green. It's a choice for people who want black but don't want black. It's so dark and lifeless that you can't tell it's green unless you are standing next to it in bright sunlight.

Yesterday I got a ride in my friend’s Emira. He’s just 2-3 weeks away from break-in at 1,000. Hopefully I will get to drive it then.

Plus
-Cabin ambiance is great. Feels sporty and luxurious at the same time. Much closer to Germans in appeal than an Aston Vantage or Jaguar F-Type. Main screen couple be clearer. However it’s touch screen and has CarPlay which doesn’t leave you wanting for much else. Keff high-fi system is good. Not underwhelming nor mind blowing.
-Sport suspension is appropriately firm. The ideal choice if you want your Emira to be a sportscar. Choose the touring pack if you want it to be a GTsportscar. You feel road imperfections but the ride is not harsh. A 992 with PASM does ride a bit more compliant in its firmest setting.
-The performance of the brakes is greater than power of the engine! This is great as strong brakes give you confidence to drive fast knowing that you can come to a complete stock on a dime. Furthermore strong brakes are handy on track.
-Handling during aggressive driving on B-roads is stellar. I didn’t feel nervous at any point. It’s not a sloppy car where the steering moves, then wheels, car and your body. Everything moves together and it gives confidence to drive it very fast and aggressively through corners.
-You can hear the engine and supercharger inside the cabin. Thankfully the engine noise isn’t obnoxious. You can have a conversation with ease and on the motorway the engine revs at a respectable 2,200rpm.
-Gearing is well thought out. Unlike with the GT4 and GTS, the gears are not ridiculously long. On public roads with a 60mph limit, my friend was able to use 4 gears.

Negative
-Acceleration doesn’t feel very fast. This should not surprise me as it’s ~300kg heavier than the Exige and only produce 450nm of torque. It’s not slow but doesn’t give shove in the back experience. However, like a manual 718 GTS, the Emira is a car that you buy for balance in corners and driver engagement, not violent acceleration.
-Sitting position is too high. This makes the car easy to get in and out of but diminish sense of occasion. In a sports car I want to feel sunken which is better for centre of gravity too.
-The seats are not amazing. I’m 180cm but the top of the headrest only reached to the middle of the back of my head. Furthermore I wish that the side bolsters could go tighter.

"Mar 29, 2023 HETHEL
So, 21 months after I ordered the car and 11 months after the original delivery date of April 2022, I have finally collected my new Lotus Emira V6 Manual First Edition from the Lotus factory at Hethel in Norfolk, UK. It's an iconic facility where Colin Chapman once reigned supreme and you can feel a special buzz in the air. More recently, under Geely ownership, it has had £100m invested in transforming the site, adding huge new manufacturing lines plus a highly confidential Evija production centre."

A Lotus Emira at the Nurburgring and an Emira? Yeah I'll watch it even if it's "Hi guys!". Albiet tomorrow. But you can see his teeth shining away! LOL!

It's definitely a precursor to the main event though, I want to see their production hypercar here. Hopefully!

This guy's cool!
Well, he is the founder of EVO after all, the greatest motoring print publication ever. He’s erudite, loaded and still highly respected in automotive circles.

As for this “new” Lotus - what an absolute banger of a sports car.
