Doesn’t look bad. There will not be an E350d, alas. The only 6 cylinder diesel will be the E 400d 4-Matic.

This absolutely sucks, but I saw it coming when the "Final Edition" E63 was announced. So now the only way to get the V8 in the midsize AMG segment.. is to pay 40k more *starting* MSRP and get a GT63 4 Door?? bruh

How come Mercedes is the only one with this V8 problem in their line-up but not other manufacturers ?
They will have at least 5 models with the V8: SL, S, GT, G, GLS, as the other 63 models get cancelled for the i6 53 (E, GLE, CLE)

Audi and BMW are also going through the same issue as well.

BMW will only have 4 model lines with the V8 moving forward, the S68 V8 is M only, will only be on the M5, 760i, X7 M60i, and XM.
Audi will be downsizing the V8 to V6 for the next RS7, and I imagine the SQ7 will also downsize to it, and the A8 has no ICE successor.

I didn't understand which BMW loses the V8 in order to be the same like Mercedes

BMW didn't have as many, but once the M850i/M8 runs it's course, there's no confirmed ICE replacement for it thus far.
The M550i, X5 M50i, X6 M50i are also going to be switching to the B58 + Hybrid system for the next generation, I don't think the upcoming LCI will get rid of the V8 yet.

This is very hypothetical.
And I don't buy this CO2 footprint fairy tale explained by Mercedes.
The S class 63 s e performance with the V8 has smaller CO2 footprint than the new C 63 s e performance with the four cylinder engine (according to WLTP, which is the refference for the CO2 limit).

The battery of the AMG S 63 E-Performance is a great deal larger than that of the AMG C 63 S E-Performance (13.1 kWh vs. 6.1 kWh) which more than doubles the electric range of the S-Class compared to the C-Class.
It has a huge impact on the WLTP-measurement.

Of course. Putting a bigger battery allows the use of a V8. But the margins would be less, because you can not strech the price limit of the class. So the downsizibg of the engine of a hybrid vehicle is a matter of margine and not CO2 footprint.

@chickpig, no man, at most they can point it slightly towards the driver in a fixed way, as happened on the c class if you look at the screen from the passenger side
