EQE [Renders] 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE

The Mercedes-Benz EQE (V295) is a battery electric executive car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group. It is part of the EQ family, and was presented at the Munich Motor Show 2021.
... and now consider that the W126 would get absolutely slaughtered in all of the categories in the Euro NCAP safety rankings by every single one of the cars in the table Sunny posted. If Mercedes build quality of the 1980's is enough to convince you of their reputation for safety then there should be absolutely no worry about any of these cars if people actually take Euro NCAP ratings at face value.

Well different times had different ways to think in those days my family bought Mercedes because they liked it and secondly we had in our family experiences where myself and my dad were saved. You may see it differently but we as a family from experience and knows even in those days Mercedes always prided themselves together with Volvo in safety if I am not mistaken the W126 was the first car with Airbags. My own opinion back then and now Mercedes is probably the safest or in top three safest brands on the road.

The W126 was the first production car in the world to meet the criteria for a frontal collision with partial overlap, a so-called offset crash, at 50 km/h. The same test that is used by the IIHS in US. It won't pass the EuroNCAP test due to lack of latest safety assistance systems and also the front was not designed for pedestrian protection. Body strength however is probably still good. I have met quite a few people that had serious accidents with these cars and came back alive without a scratch.

Will somebody survive in a 100m fall off Chapmans Peak in South Africa in a latest car like Christopher White did in a W123? It would be interesting to find out lol.

I don't know who Christopher White, it looks like a real commercial

Was it a real event "dramatized" in the video?
Without a doubt they were solid cars, the most solid, but since the free fall on the roof is filmed, no one would survive...

I googled it, I eat my words, I don't know if you saw this video of the same person but today, remembering that situation, but in an autonomous S Class, great advertising campaign, the original and this one, excellent

Thanks for sharing this later video 30 years later. It was one heck of a crash, wow his car was totally destroyed.

Yeah I drove pass many times in our W126 we drove past and my dad told us about the accident when we were younger

EQS looks much better, especially in real life. In my city there are so many EQS and EQC’s yet not so many EQE’s even though they’re much cheaper and been on sale for 4-5 months. Also definitely getting used to the egg looks, but Taycan and e-tron GT still win the sexiest EV game in my book.

Those close up interior shots of the EQE with 2 tone dash and standard screen look great. The interior does look classy and elegant, but only question I ask, is the lower door panel and pocket made from hard plastic as on C-class?

I really dislike the mounted driver’s screen, the vertical touchscreen and those black, shiny plastic door elements that hold the seat adjustment, seat heating/cooling and door opener.
Just can’t get used to it.

Next time I’m at the dealer I’ll check that. Got no active memory on what kind of material it’s made of. The door sills, that partly go up into the A and B pillar, are made of it.

Mick those are also my pet peeves about the interiors of all latest gen Mercedes models.

The drivers instrument screen is mounted in a very unsophisticated way and looks like an afterthought. At least they could have done a screen that looks better integrated with the dash, such as the Ford Mach E driver's screen.

Also the door handles surrounding trim in black shiny piano plastic and the same for the center console looks so damn cheap.
