EQE (V295) [Renders] 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQE

The Mercedes-Benz EQE (V295) is a battery electric executive car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group. It is part of the EQ family, and was presented at the Munich Motor Show 2021. Production: 2022- Model years: 2023–
I think it's funny to assume that BMW and Mercedes don't know how to make a conventionally good looking EV. Porsche doesn't have some secret recipe to making the Taycan look good-it's a fairly typical 4 door coupe that's willing to sacrifice some passenger space in the name of stylistic impact.

BMW and MB are designing their vehicles like this on purpose because they think they're being groundbreaking and reimagining what cars should look like. Hopefully we'll reach a happy medium with these experiments because I think they all could've been done better.

I’m confused why that is. Audi and Porsche have shown how it’s done. Just copy them if you can’t think of anything else, Mercedes and BMW!

Perhaps the fact that Porsche has had decades of experience designing cars with no engine in the front, is why designing the Taycan seems to have come naturally. Then Audi just used that as a template for the eTron GT.

That could be but I really think Mercedes and BMW have been spooked by Tesla and it has cause them to over react/correct and try to be different and they're just blowing it. I would think with a clean sheet of paper they would go back to their roots and make some classically beautiful cars, but they're doing just the opposite. Mercedes' fate will be written in the next 5-7 years tops. There are a lot of mistakes being made now + all the external things they have no control over.

Mercedes-Benz commitment to the One Bow design paradigm will be determined over the course of the next 4-5 years-evidence presented upon the unveiling of the first MB.EA and AMG.EA low ride height vehicles. As for BMW, it appears that they have yet to find which route will be taken regarding the exterior design of their low ride height EVs'. The i4 and, presumably, i7 and i5 are/will be compromised "ICE architecture inspired" automobiles. Not actively pursuing/evolving a possible template such as the i Vision Dynamics Concept may prove to bear unfortunate consequences.

the proportions of the camouflaged i5 test cars seem to indicate it is going down the same route as the i4: an ICE sedan with 10 cm more height caused by the underfloor battery pack. They will then try to hide the height by making the bottom 10 cm of the car in a contrasting colour against the bodywork and by sloping the boot lid downwards so that the part of the lid you touch appears to be at a normal height. I’m not fooled by this optical illusion trickery, but perhaps some people are.

There is no real use of combining a platform to accomodate both an EV and an ICE. Only compromises. And in 2012-13 BMW AG looked so avangard. And now exactly the opposite.

Let’s cross our fingers that MB and BMW sees the light soon and leaves this horrible design language they are on now…

I actually think that's one of the more flattering views of the EQE to be honest.

WHile I am not crazy about the EQ proportions, to be a bit contrarian, the extended wheelbase serves a purpose in yielding a larger cabin than the other three. In the end, it depends whether one prioritizes aesthetics over cabin capacity.

There is also the fact that it looks like the EQE will be half the price compared to the others (estimated start price €63k), so it's not really fair to compare them.

Another stupid comparison. They are entirely different propositions.

No one's cross shopping an E300 with a a Panamera.

The Mercedes looks alot smaller than the other cars due to its short front and rear overhangs and long wheelbase. The wheelbase is a massive 220mm longer than the Audi and Porsche and 160mm longer than the Tesla yet its by a small margin the shortest car in this line up. Its proportions do look odd compared to its rivals, I think its cabin space will be the best but maybe it will have the smallest boot.

Yes. If packaging is good, rear legroom could be comparable to a SWB S-Class. This will also depend on the bulk of the front seats. Volvo cleverly design front seats that have a slim profile.

Was just told by a Merc salesman that EQE prices/ordering wouldn’t be released until Feb/Mar 2022. Does anyone else have more info on this?

That Insta account is a complete joke. Really, really bad.

The iX is great. Much more presence and character than any Audi EV. You'll see.

Already seen it, wasn’t that impressed with the size of the load bay, whoever designed that didn’t think about families with children and dogs.

I don't think it does, the EQE is the same length as the other cars, but it will have much more interior room. I can't even sit straight up in the back of a Model S or Taycan without my head hitting the roof, this won't be the case in the EQE. I think it's ugly too, but they did it for a reason.
