Looks very nice, like something new in design aprouch

Well, after learning some new details on the car and seeing a lightly disguised car in a garage of facetime, I can safely say I like the design. Sounds like the car will be indeed shorter but not nearly the extent to what the pictures makes it seem. Apparently within an inch or two of the R230.

Ok we may have something here.

More than anything, I want to get a better idea of the ride quality this car will have. It will certainly be more firm than the outgoing car, but hopefully with this fresh platform they can still include some compliance.

Yikes. Meant R129*

Looks like the same hardtop roof as R230.

That's an interesting observation considering it's a soft top.

Wow these latest mules are looking a lot more curvaceous and sportier than the current R231. The front 3/4shot reminds me of the R230 but maybe this new car is a little shorter. It looks like a more compact roadster than before.

It should look quite nice in production form and it will certainly appeal to diehard M-B aficionados. However, its' more compact, sports-oriented footprint places it head-to-head with the Porsche 992 Carreras. This could end in tears for the people in Untertürkheim (and Affalterbach).

“We’re bringing back the historic DNA of the SL,” he said last year. “It’s far sportier [this time around]. It will have a perfect compromise between driving dynamics and comfort, because it’s still kind of a cruiser too.”

AMG boss Tobias Moers

It's a mistake to make this all AMG models IMO. You need one basic SL580 V8 model in the tradition of SL500, SL550 etc. Goodness, do you have to change everything all the fk'g time.

Any ideas if it will keep ABC/Curve tilt/E-ABC ?

I don't feel it needs to be sportier, there is the AMG-GT for that....

Another AMG GT LCI alike render

Wow my desire went away, you killed the dream ... :D
How difficult to differentiate between this and the new SL, what a strange strategy, but hey, they are supposed to know what they are doing

Never thought the design would differ materially, M-B never does that but it’s a pretty looking car in that render.

Damn that looks really good. We might have a winner here. Fingers crossed.

It's appearance is certainly "very sporty".

The details will define the "Mercedesness" of the new SL as, under the camouflage, it can be perceived as being a bit...well.."anonymous". Dare I say that if Audi Sport would have endeavoured to make a 2+2 roadster based on the eTron GT, its architecture may have looked quite similar to that of the SL.

I remain very curious as to how M-B engineers have fitted the alleged "+2" rear seats. Judging from the recent spyshots, the cabin appears smaller than that of the 992 Carrera cabriolet. At this point of time, I'd anticipate nothing more than an upholstered storage bin.
