Giulia [Renders] 2020 Alfa Romeo 6C / Giulia Coupe

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a compact executive car produced by Alfa Romeo. Known internally as the Type 952, it was unveiled in June 2015, with market launch scheduled for February 2016, and it is the first saloon offered by Alfa Romeo after the production of the 159 ended in 2011.
On the coast of Italy today they discovered the remains of a T-Rex only digging deeper did they find its small hands grasping the wheel of a.... yes you guessed it. A Fiat Punto!

Their best car the FIAT 500 (I also think that it is great, at least design wise) is also a decade old.

Yes the Fiat 500 which seemed to follow the modern inspiration from MINI.
Have you seen the 500 spy photographs? It appears they are just extensively facelifting the front and rear but everything else appears to be the same.

A genuine pity what has become of FIAT over the years. They provided absolutely great automobiles up until 3-4 decades ago. I still fondly recall my 1988 Uno 75 i.e. "beater" of some 27-28 years ago. A very fun little car. And what a huge range of cars they offered in the late 1960s'/early 1970s'. From the venerable 500 "Cinquecento" to the elegant, luxurious 130 Coupe.

He just said a whole lot of nothing. 2020 for the new JGC? FCA is simply too slow and broke.

WK2 last year had a record year in US. And they are capacity constrained. So why to introduce new model when the current one still rocks?

Sergio doesn't give a crap about those low margin vehicles. Will be interesting to see what is announced in June.

And that's a wise decision from Sergio.

A lot of this perceived silliness is from Sergio's mission to get to zero net debt.

And zero net debt is especially important. Their credit rating will be much improved.

Trollollollollo...

AFAIK there will be a FIAT model in European B segment but it will be something more expensive than Punto.

Most likely a new generation with Panda's shift to Poland. Then we'll see both new Panda and new 500.

But last year was a record year in terms of sales for a 500:

In the UK the Abarth brand has been out-selling Alfa Romeo! They need more of those sweet, sweet SUV sales.

Because it's old and just because it's selling with heavy discounts doesn't mean that's a good thing.

What for weird tactics they have. I mean, srsly, what are they doing? They gonna spend most of their r&d money for cars that will probably sold in very small quantities whereas the Punto/Panda and somehow the complete dodge portfolio needs a major overhaul. The same goes to to some Jeep cars like the Cherokee that sits on a modified Mercedes-platform. For me it looks like Alfa/Ferrari got all the attention and for the rest it's like: "Meh, we sell them either...". I'm missing the italian flair especially in the compact segment. Back then there were cars like the Uno or the Croma (154). The only cars they sell here right now is the 500 in dozens of different bodystyles. The super-cheap Tipo, the rebadged Mazda aka Fiat 124 and the Panda. The Punto is now 13 years old (wtf).

The group lacks decent hatchbacks. The MiTo and Giulietta are beautiful but the competition has left them for dust.

While popular, the Lancia Ypsilon and Panda are just bottom of the barrel economy cars that rental car companies on continental Europe try to sneakily use as a substitute if you have ordered a Renault Clio.

It's a big profit maker and a cornerstone of a Jeep brand together with a Wrangler.

BTW, Mercedes ML in its current form is out since 2011 and I have not seen your moaning about that one. I call it a double standards.

I doubt they care much about hatchbacks.

E-SUV, C-SUV and Coupe are top priorities as next models for Alfa Romeo. Three more models are very close to be on the list. I will leave to you to guess size and class of there models. But one of them could be characterized as an entry level model from Alfa for European market.

When Sergio retires FCA can hire Elon Musk for their new CEO in order to keep the same stile of over-promising (it looks like Elon will be a free agent by then)

Nah I'd call it sour grapes because we SEE the GLE's replacement is coming, nor was the GLE the topic here. Everyone in the known worlds is aware that the JGC and the Wrangler are important to Jeep, which is all the more reason why they need a new one to drive the ATP up and incentives down. 2020 (so they say) for a new JGC is ridiculous and the GLE will be all new long before that.

Balocco test track... there are 3 interesting models running there :
1 4C with engine coming directly from the Giulia Quadrifoglio
1 Giulia Coupe
1 Coupe with Maserati body but in reality is an Alfa..( rumors call it the new 6C)
Can't wait to know more on next 01 June..and can't care less about the Fiat Punto or similar T-Rex projects, even because that car will not have any successor..(as for the MiTo)..

just to look at some renderings :

  1. I'm not sure about that one. They must do a lot of work to accommodate V6. Longer wheelbase but not only that.
  2. I heard something about it. But the name could be different than just Giulia Coupe. Maybe an Alfetta GT/GTV? I would like that one also because that would be sign about E segment car with name Alfetta. But in case a Coupe model on a Giorgio platform.
  3. Yes, 6C is very likely. A twin or cousin of one if not more Maserati cars. Talk is about new aluminium platform.

For MiTo. AFAIK we could see a replacement. Not a direct replacement but a something which could attract younger customers and/or women.

But lets say that most important models for Alfa are a Coupe, a compact SUV and a big SUV. And we could see additional 3 models in a new plan. That makes 6 new cars. AFAIK 3 SUV models, 2 Coupe and just 1 car. You can guess size class for each of them. :D

None of this shite will happen and if it does it won't be no where near on time.

M
Probably you are right..but let's hope..because if this will happen it will be what we call "cazzi amari" for the german competitors:ROFLMAO:

This will happen. Fortunately they did not include what's not viable.

So basically we have a Grand Cherokee twin, small Stelvio, Giulia based Coupe with much higher price tag called a GTV, and an updated 4C called 8C. To me it seems very doable. I will not comment on Chinese long wheelbase versions.

Level 3 autonomous driving will be at FCA's reach in the same time when BMW could have it. They are in the same JV.
