For comparisons, we just got in the first new full sized Rover (SWB). For the money, it is a disappointment. The one i looked over was the 6 cylinder and it was over $100k and wasn't much different than the previous gen other than the center console haptic area that is the same in the Levar. The Discovery is even worse. Massive body and the worst back seat quality and room I've seen in a luxury vehicle.
MB's MBUX should absolutely blow it away. Depending on when we get the new engines, MB could be ready to make a quantum leap.

Same, the front bumper looks too soft and looks too similar to the E class All Terrain.

I hope the front end doesn't end looking as friendly as it appears. The new X3 has an overly friendly face to me too and I really think it takes away from the design.

Well its a facelift, not a all new generation so that makes sense. No different than the C-class' mild facelift. I hate the Discovery so I'm with you on that.

I wasn't aware it was only a FL. We own two RR stores, but i don't sell them, or follow them too closely. However, they are taking orders like it's a redesign. If it's a FL then kudos to them for really upgrading the tech, because it was bad. I recently drove a RR about 100 miles and just wasn't impressed. Hard to know what all the fuss is about. Meanwhile GL and GLS resale values are an abomination. Can't figure it out.

i hope MB will drop the 204HP 4 CL or if not...to make it more powerful. I felt that engine with 4WD was a little bit underpowered
Bmw X5 now has 240HP on that 2 litre diesel engine

I really adored the W164 especially the ML63, I still do ....I really doubt I’m going to like this one as much based in these spy videos and pics. I get the sense that MB doesn’t put much effort into this car.

Well i don't think the photo is clear or video .. I will tell you if I like it when it's revealed.. As this could well be the replacement to my E class.

Not sure how long you on these boards but I definitely don't love every single MB design example.

Well, good to know. But I am not sure how being such a proud fan of a company makes you feel the need of asking another member if he has seen the press pics of a car you are expecting to like just because he says the front end does not look particularly good.

This is a spy pics forum more than anything else. If a new set of pics appear and reveal almost the entire front end of a car, there will surely be people who don't feel it too much. As much as that bothers you.

It definitely does not bother me if you like the new GLE front or not i know you not a MB fan which is definitely your own choice... All i meant was the video the front is far from clear.Maybe only the part of bumper.. So yeah thats why i asked if you saw it as its not even near clear to judge.

I agree that it's definitely too early to say this car is doomed or that Mercedes doesn't care about it.

I really don't care much about how the lower models look like these days,actually It becomes a common thing,no one looks decent with base trim,so does X5 and Q7 and cayenne and so on.but I can see the higher ones,especially in full AMG guise this car will be really eye catching,of which the porportions is my favorite part about this new GLE by now.

How does that work then? Everybody is sat in the office, and Friday afternoon is when the GLE is supposed to be designed, but someone suggests going to the pub instead?

As if any car manufacturer arrives at a final design after "not putting in much effort". The design is what it is after many years of focus groups, designs, redesigns, discussions with engineers and suppliers, testing, board meetings. It will look like it does 100% intentionally, and not because they couldn't be bothered. Just because you might not like the design, or you think it's generic or dull, it doesn't mean they couldn't be bothered to do anything else.

Jeez.

I agree totally with Betty above.. Also I think MB has its own market for the GLE and a fairly large share of the market with what it makes.I am certain they do a lot of research of the market. Remeber not everyone wants the GLE to be sporty or agressivea. Some people like the softer smoother looking Suv.. Anywyas for now we are very from judging this design or product lets be patient.
