CLS [Renders] 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS (gen 3)

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from December 2003 to August 2023. The original model was a four-door sedan based on the Mercedes E-Class platform, marketed as a four door coupé. An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS.
Just wondering -- would you buy something like this (trying to fit the CL"S" theme here)?

absolutely that looks amazing. Just as the S class coupe looks stunningly gorgeous

Revisiting my own comment with an ancient rendering. But just for the sake of explanation...

"Sensual Purity" WORKS here. Deducting the fender vent will provide an almost creaseless, yet still highly expressive, eye-arresting flank structure.

I would have loved to have seen this car, identical to the rendering, make it to production.

The AMG GT sedan will be a little closer to this, but not identical.

With all due respect, but if that design came from any other brand, the reaction in here would be very different.
As somebody who is clearly more of a Pfeiffer admirer than a Wagener follower, I do not see a lot of positives in this vehicle.

Hi Busty, I would love to hear your thoughts on why you prefer Pfieffer over Wagener? Design is of course a matter of preference, but mostly everyone (myself included) finds the current Wagener era far superior to Pfieffer’s reign.

Personally, I find Pfieffer responsible for 5 of the all time ugliest Mercedes: the C207, W212, R231, X204, R172.

I’m a huge Mercedes fan and it got so bad I even bought an Audi for a couple years until the Wagener designs came out and I sold it to purchase a GLC.

Those wheels are pretty awful too.

They look like fake wheel covers in person. Don’t know why they drop the ball with standard CLS rims every generation - too small and weak design.

All in all, it didn’t look that desirable to me, especially considering the price - shared interior feels redundant also.

I guess the CLS53 is this gen’s saving grace.

Also, for the automaker that first introduced the panoramic roof.... it baffles me that the CLS (or GT4) still doesn’t have one (or a half glass moonroof à la 6GC). The high beltline makes the interior feel claustrophobic. The traditional sunroof takes away from headroom, making the 6er GC and A7 roomier alternatives.

It exemplifies just how spec-sensitive the C257 CLS is. Especially the metallic red examples are sublime.

Many moons later and that rear is still ugly Mercedes.

The rear is not ugly, it is the taillights. They are not ugly, I believe the odd shape adds a little too much tension in an otherwise nice rump. I wish the new CLS could have followed the E
and S by not having the clusters added on the bootlid.
Would have made things clean and simple imo.
I did that here and simply made the bottom of the lights more arrow shaped. Also added the famous MB silver strip from the E.

Hey today I saw the new CLS @ Mercedes Colindale I just saw it outside as the guy was driving away.

The front is stunning looks like a shark.. Stunning.

Rear I'll say one thing to all wait till you see it before you say lights are ugly and so on if you stand next to the car those lights flow beautiful with the sculpture of the car.

Loveky car definitely a better car then the previous one in terms of design that's my opinion.
