So, you compare foto of this frankenstein-prototype-one_year_before_premiere interior

Frankenstein prototype looks far better than the GLE interior already. Because the GLE's architecture is hideous. Quality and materials will be fine, that's not the problem.

Can we reserve the GLE vs X5 discussion for a separate thread after the new GLE has been unveiled?

We're comparing an early prototype X5 to a near finished GLE interior. If anything, there should be a huge advantage for the Benz.......but I bet nobody is seeing it, because the X5 looks better even with the testing equipment strapped in.

I'm ok with that opinion. We just don't need this thread polluted with mentions about the X5 in every other post.

You are welcome to start an early GLE vs X5 thread and invite others to continue the debate there.

I would agree with saying the problems are about the design, not that much about the materials used.

Gloss instead of matte wood inlays in grey will bring it to life.

This is how lifeless the E-Class looks with a similar interior combo to the GLE mule:

I am just responding, and haven't started any X5 vs GLE talk. I too think it's too soon for a thread in Internal Combustion, but you have to admit it's pretty logical people mention the GLE's nearest and toughest competitor every once in a while....

No it won't. An ugly chick doesn't become pretty with lipstick. It will easy the pain a bit though.
And while not my style at all, that E class interior you posted looks eons better than the GLE. No comparison at all.

Here are some spy pics of the X5 interior before it was launched and they were taken with a crappy camera, it also makes the interior look cheap, especially the center console and steering wheel which is a far cry from the reality of the official pics.

Jesus, I didn't know that this photo exists. That looks absolutely horrible. Night and Day compared to the offical pictures of the X5.

And some thinks that all is about official photos? So here are two pic of preproduction X5, non official, amateur shots, and even I did some Photoshop things to even look worse (material quality). And still it looks beautiful.
ps. sorry for X5 photos in this thread

Just a friendly reminder to you. I still remember when some one posted unofficial pictures of the new 7 series in this forum in mid 2015. It was a blue-ish G10 parked in a parking lot at an airport. The photos looked like shit and the majority of comments was pretty negative regarding the 7 series's style. I know that you were pretty pissed about the comments because it didn't take very long when the first mods cleaned the thread from all the fights. Yet you covered the new seven series in a whole lot of hyperboles like what a piece of art the car was when we got to see it officially. I remember that you said the days of the competition were numbered. We could all say that the difference between the official pictures and the photos at the airport were immense. So, klier, please be so kind and stop this troubleshooting unless we get to see the car right from MB.

PS: I don't get any trolling please be kind to me..

Thats what I was getting at as well, the colour scheme of the interior on that GLE pic does not bring out the best of the design and also the quality of the photo was not good either, used with a crappy camera. What I wanted to highlight with the X5 pics was that a crappy camera shot can change someones perception of the look and perceived quality of the interior. Although those X5 pics were from mules, the same basic dash architecture is present but it is covered up and also the colour schemes of both interiors were not good to highlight what the individual interior package does to the ambiance and appearance of the X5 interior.

I will carry on with GLE discussion now. Lets hope some better pics will be shown soon LOL

with this, one month before permiere, pre-production interior:

What I want to highlight is that a photo taken with a crappy camera, such as the one taken with this GLE interior as well as those X5 preproduction shots can change a persons perception of the interior look and quality and also colour scheme used. The interior architecture on both X5 shots is the same as the production car only they are covered up.

Could everybody please refrain from X5 pics and whatever in this GLE dedicated thread. Thank you.

I'm also not a particular fan of such going astray .... but it should also be noted that there is, practically always, whenever there is a new Benz on the horizon, a substantial amount of 'provocation' such as "this car is gonna knock the competition out of the park", no matter how much is known about the vehicle. So one might also say: if you can't take it then don't dish it out. In the end, the X5 is still a 1:1 competitor and to compare it to the GLE cannot be considered entirely off-topic.

To be honest, all things considered, seeing this set of X5 photos and comparing them to the GLE, it’s not that bad. Agreed that the X5 looks much better, the press pics of the GLE will be more palatable. I think we should wait till the final product is released before making judgement.

The AC appear and they are those of the class E. Now they are those of the class A. I don't like.
I'm not talking about quality, I'm talking about image.

Where is this climate control?
Class A controls may be good, but not for a GLE.
It does not say much about the premium image

Climate control. Lights control. Seat control. They are from Class A.
Where is the climate control of class E that is seen in some spy photos?
I don't like it.

Are you not feeling heard, or do you just enjoy repeating yourself?
